Dr. Margo Mehl, Allan and the entire team at SFAMC is absolutely amazing. As soon as you walk in you're greeted warmly and its so calm. It really sets the tone for when you and your fur baby are stressed. Our boy Barry had to have TPLO surgery on both hind legs 2 separate times. Dr. Mehl and her team were compassionate, thorough, and so sweet with our anxious Barry. Everything is explained down to the T, they follow through with updates and the pricing is fair. We completely trust our babes in their care. Thank you all at SFAMC!

Many thanks to Dr. Anna McLamb and her assistant, Jasmin P., who, since April 20th, helped extend the life of my elderly 19-year-old cat, Lipa. Sadly, my cat has crossed the Rainbow Bridge; I am deeply grateful to the clinic staff who were working on Saturday, May 2nd—they assisted me with translation, received my cat, and handled everything with the utmost care and dignity on this final day for my old girl. I am truly grateful...

I love this pet hospital. Everything about it is wonderful. I have been going here for nearly 9 year. They literally save my cats life when she had an asthma attack. Through their guidance Toasted Marshmallow is doing 100% better. I did like the SPCA, but the service here and how kinda and loving to my pets the staff are as a whole, I can't imagine finding anything better elsewhere.

My dog passed at my home a few months ago. I wrapper her up and took her body to SFAMC. The nurse suggested they do CPR. I said my dog was decseased. She asked twice again if I wanted her to do CPR. She inteneded to put the very suggestion in my head that my dog may still be alive. So I said yes they could perform CPR only if my dog was still alive. Then after SFAMC performed CPR on my decased dog, I was charged $1500. I was scammed. Over the last few months I have been gathering stories from former patients of SFAMC, FOIA requests, and owner/employee backgroud checks. My dog came in, was hospitalized for pancreatitis, never improved. Doctors kept sending us home, we noticed a bump that was growing and resending, so we brought him back to SFAMC and they still said nothing to worried about immediately despite "triage". We took him to VEG instead, it turns out the bump was tumor was infected, my dog had a fever and required immediate antibiotics and surgery consultation. Over four times at that hospital with checkups and no body noticed it even after pointing it out. They charged us over 6k and my dog almost died right in their face. Go to VEG or any other emergency center for that matter- it’s worth the drive.

I’ve been to SFAMC a number of times with both my dog and my cats, mostly for urgent or emergency visits, and overall I’ve been very pleased with the care. The quality of care is top notch, and the doctors do a great job explaining the issues and available options in clear, understandable language. I always appreciate being informed during stressful situations. One thing I would recommend is speaking up about medication preferences before pickup, especially if your pet is difficult to medicate. There have been times when medication was prescribed without much discussion, but the staff has been willing to adjust it when I asked—for example, requesting not to have pills prescribed for my nearly feral cat. The billing process is a little unusual: they charge the high end of the cost estimate at the time of the visit and then adjust it later to reflect the actual cost, sometimes days afterward. I understand why estimates are needed, but if I were on a strict budget, that delay would be upsetting. Parking can also be a challenge during regular business hours, so it’s worth allowing extra time or using the bus (22). Even with these drawbacks, I’ve found the medical care to be excellent and recommend SFAMC, In addition to the good care, I like that the vets own the business and that they are open 24/7.

I’ve been taking my pets to SFAMC for years and always had wonderful, attentive and compassionate service. The expertise and straight forward treatment and explanations for my pets problems, especially by Dr Gervais, have made me confident that my pets were getting the best care. I will continue going there.
