Polk Street Animal Hospital has been a reliable place for us, especially given our little guy’s heart condition. When his symptoms flared up recently, we brought him in for that, along with his annual checkup. Dr. Cote was great; he took the time to listen carefully, answered all of our questions, and gave thoughtful recommendations for both the heart issue and a couple of other concerns we had. The rest of the team was just as helpful and friendly. The front desk staff even assisted us in sending prescriptions to Costco, which helped save a bit on medication costs, something we really appreciated. The overall process felt smooth and well coordinated, which makes a difference when you’re already a bit stressed about your pet. The only challenge isn’t the clinic, it’s our little guy, who gets very anxious and shaky during visits. Given his heart condition, we may look into options like a mild tranquilizer next time to make the experience easier on him. That said, the care and support we’ve received here have been consistently positive, and it’s a place we feel comfortable returning to.

Highly recommend! This clinic is very clean and the staffs there are super responsive, my pet needed some travel documents as our family are moving across the country and they made it happened! The staffs and doctor Cote, are very responsive and their fees are much more reasonable than our old clinic. We highly recommend them

We have been taking our dog to Castro Animal Hospital since we adopted him four years ago. The care is excellent. The vets are patient and kind with our shy boy, they offer options and clear explanations, and the check-in and -out process is easy and simple. Yesterday I called do a last minute appointment due to an infected eye and they squeezed us in later that afternoon. While the Castro location is our normal one, due to proximity to home, the Polk location is equally clean, professional, and friendly.

Such a welcoming place from the moment I stepped in! The vet did vaccinations and a wellness check on my two cats. She got on the floor to enter their cat space. Petted each one, talked gently to them all the while checking fur, paws, lady parts, ears and mouth/teeth. What a gem of a vet! I will definitely be back!!!

We have been going to Castro/polk animal hospital for 6 years with our golden doodle larry. Everyone is so nice and we have received excellent care both in urgent and routine visits. We really appreciate that the vets are practical and clearly communicate what needs to be done. Should out to Dr. Liang who we love!

They were a spirited bunch—four very opinionated gentlemen in their own right. A Westie, a Pekingese, an American Cocker Spaniel, and a Shih Tzu. Each with his own voice, each with his own demands, and all of them deserving of the kind of care we had come to trust at Saint Francis Pet Clinic. So we searched. And I don’t mean casually—I mean the kind of searching that keeps you up at night, reading every review, weighing every word. We came across Castro Animal Hospital, a place so well-regarded it had no room left to give. Fully booked. No new clients. That alone told us something important. And then, as life sometimes does, it offered us a quiet opening. An email came through—word that a second location was on the horizon: Polk St Animal Hospital. We didn’t hesitate. Twenty extra minutes on the road didn’t matter. Not when it came to family. From that very first visit, there was a feeling—one you can’t quite put into words, but you know it when it’s there. If our dogs could write Google reviews, I suspect Emperor Ming Li would insist on dictating this one himself—between naps, of course. We recently brought His Imperial Majesty, Emperor Ming Li, our Pekingese, to Polk Street Animal Hospital for a persistent skin allergy that had turned him into a full-time scratching machine. Thankfully, Dr. Monopoli (and yes, before you ask, that really is her last name—which sounds less like a veterinarian and more like someone who owns Boardwalk and Park Place) quickly diagnosed the issue and recommended an effective treatment plan. The results have been remarkable. For the past several days, Emperor Ming Li has stopped scratching, is sleeping comfortably through the night, and has returned to his preferred royal duties of supervising the household from the sofa. A heartfelt thank you to Dr. Monopoli and the entire team for their kindness, professionalism, and excellent care. They always take the time to listen, explain, and make both pets and their humans feel at ease. All three of our dogs are fortunate to have Polk Street Animal Hospital managing their healthcare needs. Knowing they are in such capable and compassionate hands gives us tremendous peace of mind.
