Banfield Pet Hospital

📍 Cat veterinarians in West Covina

4.1

Banfield Pet Hospital in West Covina offers comprehensive veterinary care, including specialized services like IV fluids and hospitalization for pets in need. Their team emphasizes personalized treatment plans, often recommending advanced options to ensure the best outcomes, though occasional procedural adjustments may occur. The facility is equipped with on-site resources, such as medications and surgical capabilities, to address a wide range of pet health needs efficiently.

While the staff is generally knowledgeable and attentive, some patients report extended wait times and concerns about pricing transparency. The hospital’s wellness plans and care packages may not always align with individual needs, and billing disputes over uncompleted services have been noted. Overall, the experience reflects a balance between accessibility and specialized care, though responsiveness to concerns could be improved.

I brought my cat in for IV fluids that required hospitalization. The night before, the veterinarian presented two options: Subcutaneous fluids (no hospitalization required) IV fluids (which required hospitalization) I initially chose subcutaneous fluids, but the vet strongly recommended IV fluids as the better option, so I agreed. I was prescribed Gabapentin (.8 ml) to give the night before and again the morning of the appointment to help my cat remain calm. I followed those instructions exactly. Later that day, I was informed that they were unable to administer IV fluids and instead gave subcutaneous fluids. At pickup, I reviewed the invoice and requested that the hospitalization charge be removed since the IV procedure was not performed. My request was denied. I was told the issue was that my cat was not sufficiently relaxed and was accused of not giving the prescribed medication, which I had. When I asked how I could dispute the charge, I was told the bill would be sent to collections and that I would "end up paying much more." I understand that veterinary care is complex and that procedures don’t always go as planned. However, I was disappointed by the refusal to adjust the bill for a service that was not completed and by the manner in which my concerns were addressed. Unbelievable.

I’ve been a costumer from this place since a year ago and personally I’ll look for another vet, because sometimes I have seen things about the experience and care of my per that Ididn’t like. Visits usually take a while, it does not matter if it is only for the most basic and easy thing possible, they will tell you to come back in 5-6 hours. I know PET care is expensive but I think services and products are a little over priced and some times it will take a little while for someone to help or check you in. I don’t blame the staff for this, the hospital should hire more vets. Good things about it is that staff it’s usually willing to help or answer any questions and the hospital actually have several resources that your pet might need, like medicine or some kind of surgeries. Over all my experience with costumer service is good but I think for the actual quality of the service/care for your per is not that good as you wish for the amount of money that you pay. (Care plans are not worth it, they know it and that’s why you’re not able to cancel until you pay the whole period. Basically your paying at least $50 monthly for free check ups and descounts on everything else. It’s 100% better to pay a little more for actual insurance for your pet).

Honest horrible service. I feel like they really do not care about the animals well being. Just the money. Will never take my pets back there. They said my dog had worms. Gave us all this medicine for worms. Whole time she did not have worms. They tested her for parvo said it was negative. The whole time she had parvo. They are ridiculous, even the way the doctor was talking to us she was just throwing out number not truly trying to do what was best for my dog. If I took her anywhere else she could’ve been saved.

If I could leave zero stars I would. I’ve brought my kitten in 3 times and kept telling them he was having breathing problems. Three times they assured me that he was fine and the fourth time I brought him in telling them I’m canceling the wellness plan and that he’s still has breathing problems they finally inform me he had conjunctivitis. After I treated him with the medicine they provided my sweet baby boy can breathe. It breaks my heart to know that he was neglected by this vet office. I’m so lucky that it was nothing life threatening. Please do not take your pets here. They do not care about them. They only want your money. If you do not have the wellness plan it’s a little over 80$ a visit just the visit plus whatever else the vet decides your pet needs. Also the worst thing is for a simple visit like shots you have to drop off your pet anywhere from 3-4 hours min. Banfield pet hospitals everywhere only want your money and forget talking to a vet. If you’re lucky you might get to talk to the nurse.

I’m so angry at these people and I’m for sure going to think twice before coming back here! Waiting for an answer over the phone for over 30 mins ! Only to be put on hold twice The appointment was in the morning so our Cat was not feed ; even after explaining to the staff that he has not eaten. Hoping they would have the decency to feed the poor thing 😿 And Taking 8 hours for a simple check up is unacceptable Communication is Key and these people were so terrible at even the basics today!
