Banfield Headquarters

📍 Cat veterinarians in Vancouver

3.5

Banfield Headquarters in Vancouver operates as a corporate-run veterinary clinic offering routine and preventive care for pets. While it provides basic wellness services, including vaccinations and check-ups, its limited scope may not cover advanced or emergency treatments, requiring clients to seek additional care elsewhere. The facility’s payment plans, though structured for convenience, may lack flexibility, particularly regarding transfers or cancellations.

Some clients report concerns over customer service responsiveness, with extended wait times for assistance. Additionally, the clinic’s sanitary standards in waiting areas have drawn attention, suggesting inconsistencies in maintenance. For comprehensive veterinary needs, exploring independent practices or specialized hospitals may offer broader services and personalized care.

Stay Far away from Banfield. THEY ARE NOT A PET HOSPITAL. They are a clinic that offers limited services. Also, they're payment plans are not transferable to other veterinarian services, such as an Emergency Pet Hospital, where a slew of services are provided that Banfield neither has the facilities or capabilities to perform, due to the fact that the corporate that runs Banfield (Mars, yes, the candy maker) is too damn cheap to create a true full-service veterinarian hospital. Furthermore, do not get trapped into a Banfield Payment Plan. They are designed to entrap consumers into long payments even after your pet has died. These payment plans are also designed to discourage clients to go look for a real vet service, because if you do find a decent vet, you're still trapped into the Banfield payments taking their monthly nut from your bank account——even if your pet is getting treated elsewhere! Total scam vet service run by a lousy money grubbing corporation who cares more about bottom line than pet health. Aside from that, good luck getting the same Vet for a continuity of care on your pet. They burn through vets due to the lousy conditions they force the vets to work under. Do right by your pet and find an independent Vet and then also sign up for a good pet insurance plan. Avoid Banfield.

I wish no stars was a choice. This company holds their customers hostage when it comes to discontinuing pet care. No one is ever available via phone or chat. I've spent more than 5 hours today attempting to contact someone and have been hung up on, put into 90+ minute cues, told I was 13th in line to chat SEVERAL times. The absolute worst customer service. I'm not surprised that there's a 90 minute hold to cancel your plan...it makes me believe everyone is jumping ship which is why the phones are so busy.

We have been using Banfield Hospital for over a decade — loyal customers because of our dog, who sadly passed away unexpectedly. In the midst of grief, you start contacting services that are no longer needed. A wellness plan is no longer necessary for a pet that is no longer with us. It is disgraceful, predatory, and cruel to profit off the bodies of our deceased pets. What people fail to realize is that these are more than just pets — they are our family members. When we questioned what services had been rendered since the beginning of the policy that would justify continued charges to our account, the agent simply repeated what they were trained to say: "Unfortunately, your plan is for a year, and you must either continue paying monthly or pay the entire balance up front." Why not tell me what services my pet actually received to justify the cost? Now, for the next few months, I either have to relive the death of my dog every time I see that charge — or take a financial hit and pay off the plan in full. If you do anything, stay away from this company. Find a local hospital instead — because these large corporations are heartless and greedy.

I have been a Banfield Pet Hospital client for about 10 years and have generally appreciated the care my pets receive. However, in recent visits, I’ve become increasingly concerned about the cleanliness and overall upkeep of the waiting areas. After starting my own cleaning business, I’ve developed a trained eye for detail, and what I’ve observed is concerning for a facility that handles animal health. The waiting rooms show a noticeable lack of proper cleaning and maintenance. There is visible buildup in corners, pet hair and slobber around seating areas, and dirt or residue along the walls. The condition suggests that regular, thorough cleaning is either being skipped or done inconsistently. I have taken photos to document what I’ve seen, as it appears this is not an isolated issue. From my understanding, Banfield does not use an external cleaning company, which means cleaning responsibilities fall to in-house staff. That raises questions about accountability and sanitary standards. If the front areas visible to clients are this neglected, it makes me uneasy about the level of cleanliness in the treatment and boarding areas behind the scenes.I am posting this review not to criticize unfairly, but to encourage Banfield to take a closer look at their cleaning practices and ensure that sanitation standards reflect the professionalism and care pet owners expect.

This is 1 of the most challenging reviews I've ever done. I've been a member of the Banfield family for roughly 13 yrs. My beloved dog, Max, passed away on 2/10/23. I contacted Banfield to end services but received the response, "Your annual plan is set, and we will continue to make automatic drafts until the end of your contract." So, although I noted that I would make a lumpsum payment, they continue 2 take out automatic payments w/out my authorization. My frustration is that during Covid, I paid 1.5 years w/out being able to receive services, but they refused 2 stop my automatic payments. I feel traumatized and will never utilize their services ever again!!!

🚨 DO NOT PURCHASE THE WELLNESS PLAN BEFORE READING THE CONTRACT 🚨 ⭐️ 1-Star Review (Would Give Zero if I Could) I have been a loyal Banfield Wellness Plan customer for over 14 years with one dog and 11.5 years with my second. After this nightmare experience, I will never return to Banfield again—and I’m writing this so no one else gets blindsided like I did. I called my vet with serious concerns about my dog, and they never returned my call. Later that evening, my dog died. Not a single call back. Not an ounce of concern. Nothing. The following Monday, I called the Wellness Plan line to cancel, only to sit on hold for 49 minutes. Called again Tuesday—four calls later and another 26-minute hold, I finally got someone. And here’s where it gets even more unbelievable: They told me I had to pay for the remaining 5 months of the plan. Yes—my dog is gone, and they still expect me to hand over $500. Absolutely absurd. Then they had the nerve to tell me they could "waive two payments out of courtesy." Courtesy? Courtesy would be waiving the entire thing. Courtesy would be basic human decency. Courtesy would be not financially punishing someone whose pet of 14+ years just died. This is a ridiculous, predatory clause hidden in their contracts—and guess what? They do NOT tell you this when you sign up in the store. Not once in 14 years did anyone explain that if my dog died, I’d still be stuck paying for months of "wellness services" he would obviously never receive. Banfield should be ashamed. The lack of empathy, the lack of communication, the fine-print traps—every part of this experience was an insult to the memory of my dog and to the loyalty I showed them for over a decade. I hope this review saves at least one person from signing up for this so-called Wellness Plan. Get real pet insurance. Do not fall for Banfield’s plan. I will never return to Banfield again.

!!!!!BEWARE!!!!! This review is solely based on the Banfield organization and not a direct reflection of any individual location (though most locations operate subpar as well). Let me start by saying I have had an account with Banfield for the better part of the 13 years, solely out of necessity of convenience of location and not based at all on satisfaction. Unfortunately I had to put my dog down after 15 years together and the Dr conducting our home euthanasia reached out to my dog’s vets office (Banfield) to let them know of his passing. Some days later I logged into my account via the app and saw my pet had been marked as an archive, confirming they had received notification. 3 weeks later, before my pets remains had even been delivered back home to me, I received a charge from Banfield. Surely I assumed this was some mistake as how can an organization knowingly charge me for an account after a pet had passed so I contacted them. I spoke with a representative named Chris who was your typical customer service representative who "understood my frustration" and was "so sorry for the confusion" but continued to pursue the $62 charge. Offered me $20 off the total and told me he wouldn’t automatically renew my account as a courtesy. WHY WOULD AUTOMATIC RENEWAL BE A THING FOR A DEAD ANIMAL!!! I requested to speak to a supervisor and continued to sternly say I wouldn’t be paying the charge as the pet has passed away. A supervisor called me back 24 hours later. Daniel (ID number: Dp39457065) also continued to demand the money as this was a monthly payment due AND the amount to cancel an account prematurely. I am so disgusted with this organization. I cannot in good faith allow anyone to utilize their services without sharing my experience. This company lacks all empathy that SHOULD be present when operating a company like this. This organization’s only priority is money. The customer and their pet don’t matter. I will never step foot into another Banfield Location. Every single employee that works for the company should rethink their values.
