They squeezed us in for an emergency appointment for my 14 year old chihuahua. The front desk attendants/nurses were so helpful when my dog soiled herself, supplying a blanket and pad for my lap. Dr. Li Puma explained everything in an easy-to-understand way and was so empathetic while giving my fiance and I autonomy over which surgery option was best for our girl. On surgery day, there was a complication with my girls heart rate, and she called us to explain the situation and the two options we had yet let us make the best decision. She performed the surgery perfectly and as soon as she was out, we were called to ease our worries. When we went to pick up our girl, the staff was so kind and understanding to my happy tears. We all exclaimed how cute my chihuahua is after her eye removal surgery. I felt so cared for, everyone is so kind. I’m a helicopter mom, and was worried about my girl post op. The doctor chatted with me, and made a recommendation, which was so helpful. This office truly cares about their patients! I highly recommend Dr. Li Puma. She is extremely informative, and has excellent bed side manners. She’s also the best at what she does. Thank you again for caring for our little lady.
I’m extremely disappointed with Veterinary Vision Animal Eye Specialists. I had a confirmed appointment for today following an urgent/emergency referral from my veterinarian for suspected acute glaucoma/elevated eye pressure and sudden vision loss. I arrived at the Taraval (San Francisco) location at 7:50 AM for my scheduled visit, and I was told they could not see my dog because there was "no availability." Staff then instructed me to drive to the San Carlos location. I arrived there at 8:42 AM, and they also refused to see us. If a clinic cannot honor scheduled appointments—especially for time-sensitive eye emergencies—then they should not be confirming them. This lack of coordination and follow-through wasted critical time, added unnecessary stress, and left us scrambling for care when our pet needed urgent attention. I hope management improves scheduling accuracy, communication between locations, and the handling of urgent referrals so other pet owners don’t go through the same situation.
I would highly recommend this place to address pet eye issues: My cat had a cancerous tumor as big as an eyeball growing under her eyelid, blocking her vision and causing discomfort and secretion. Dr Kate Freeman from Veterinary Vision on Taraval performed surgery to remove the tumor. Surgery was very successful and Dr and staff were wonderful from beginning to end. See before surgery and 7 weeks post surgery photos. My cat and I are forever grateful!
Dr. Puma was excellent. Treated my cat, Angelina Jolie with care and kindness. Addressed her issues, next steps and I felt that her exam was thorough, issues were addressed and now it's just monitoring and continuing excellent care with Dr. Puma and her staff. Thank you! And Angelina Jolie is appreciative too!
Cormac went 100% blind with fully mature cataracts in both eyes. He’s only 2.5 years old… I feel extremely fortunate to have found Veterinary Vision Animal Eye Specialists. They are so good at what they do and their pricing is better than other comparable places. But mostly- VETERINARY VISION is just wonderful. Cormac’s case had some difficulties and every case will be unique to the individual: but they helped Cormac… he’s doing fantastic. He has vision again, from blindness to great vision… we appreciate and thank the doctor and all the staff members… they are just excellent!
The staff were kind, courteous and diligent in treating/handling my pet with the utmost care. They were accommodating with my pet’s ophthalmic needs and were excellent in explaining the care plan in a simple manner.
The vet was very caring and explained my cat's issue in easy to understand terms. I was and still am super impressed. The receptionist was very experienced and knowledgeable. Excellent place for care. Thank you!
