An amazingly caring, knowledgable staff. When my canary had an eye infection a month ago, this place saved both him and I… we able to be seen quickly and with high efficacy (detailed correspondance with the veterinarian and full explanations of the medications we were given). I am so very grateful for this vet hospital as there were very few other available avian vets, and I did not feel out of place at all bringing in a bird (especially due to his small size). The exam went smoothly and my canary was handled with care. They are also highly organized and responsive with emails. The front desk staff are pleasures to correspond with and extremely respectful of both pets and owners. (They were even so kind as to offer to keep my bird behind their desk if I wanted to leave for a short walk (as I arrived to the appointment approx. 20 minutes early)). I can also tell the place is kept very clean, as I (sadly) have allergies to dogs and cats, but did not have any allergic symptoms while there. Dr. Chan is the best, and I am very thankful for this veterinarian clinic in San Francisco. I would really like to recommend their avian services for the depth and ease of veterinary care. We received excellent end of life care at this veterinary clinic for our sweet guinea pig. We met both Dr. Chan and Dr. Chu. They were thorough, compassionate, and very supportive during a difficult time. The front desk staff were extremely responsive and accommodating with our scheduling needs, as well.

This is my vet and they’ve been great for the last year! My only complaint would be that they won’t give a vaccine without a physical, even if my cat has recently had a physical from them.

The staff is so kind and treats my dog with the best care! I adopted a puppy maltipoo in June 2020 and have only taken her here! They are knowledgeable and reasonably priced.

Sunset Veterinary Hospital is the best! We’ve been bringing our dog Suki here since she was a little floof and the friendly staff and doctors always take such good care of her. They always go above and beyond to fit us in when inevitable things like upset stomachs or hurt paws come up. I would give them a bagillion star rating if I could.

We brought our cats here for an investigation into some upper respiratory symptoms. Vet spent ~5 minutes with us, ordered $600 of labs and then left. We were told nothing was out of the ordinary beyond some numbers in their blood work for kidney issues. We took them to another vet for a second opinion, who actually took the time to examine them and found they have signs of a bacterial infection that can be very damaging and spread to humans. As a neighbor and concerned cat dad, I advise against bringing your animals here.

Dr. Chan is good and attentive to my pets. She’s been my numerous pets’ go-to vet since 8 years ago when she was at Balboa Pet Hospital. She knows how to interact with dogs of different temperaments with confidence. I took two stars off because the products (both prescribed monthly preventive pills or non-prescriptive ear flush) are very expensive with a huge price jack-up. For instance the ear flush was only $42 on Amazon and they charged me $72+! Unfortunately my husband bought it from this vet clinic without knowing that we’ve already had a new bottle at home. I went over to return it (unopened with sealing). Dr. Chu (the owner of this clinic) denied return claiming that it’s a prescriptive meds. First it’s not bc I did get a bottle from Amazon without prescription. Second, it’s not med — it’s a preventative ear flush and mind you, it’s still sealed and unopened. The owner just wanna squeeze every juice out of you. I would still come here because of Dr. Chan but I definitely will compare price before I purchased any products here. Be aware!
