I can’t say enough good things about Veterinary Specialty in Sorrento Valley. They have been absolutely incredible with my dogs, Bella, Eliza, and Kobe.I truly wouldn’t trust anyone else with their care. From the moment you walk in, everything feels organized, clean, and calm. The staff is not only highly professional and knowledgeable, but also genuinely caring—you can tell they love what they do and treat every pet like their own. They consistently keep me informed, explain everything clearly, and make sure I feel confident about every decision. Appointments run smoothly, and I’ve never had to wait long, which makes such a difference, especially when you’re worried about your pet. The level of communication, attention to detail, and overall compassion is just outstanding. If you’re looking for a veterinary team you can fully trust, this is it. Truly an amazing place—five stars all the way.
I took in my little Josie with a high fever, this past Friday. First, we had almost no wait before being seen by the Vet, Dr.Henry. She was knowledgeable and very caring to my pup and me. Her treatment plan was developed in a timely manner. It was decided My pup would need to spend the night at the hospital for further tests and treatment. When I pick up my dog the next day, she was felling so much better! She has come home with her old perky personality! I am very pleased with the care my pup received at the VSH in Sorrento Valley. Thank you to the Drs and staff for being wonderful in caring for my pup, Josie.
I’ve been bringing my senior dog, Sundance (18 years old), to the Veterinary Specialty Hospital of San Diego in Sorrento Valley to see Internist Dr. Shawn Chandrakumar and his assistant, Mac. Sundance has multiple chronic conditions, and we recently discovered an abdominal mass, so his care requires a very thoughtful, balanced approach. Dr. Chandrakumar and Mac have been exceptional—clear, compassionate, and genuinely committed to Sundance’s quality of life. They’ve helped me navigate difficult decisions with patience and kindness, and even followed up after appointments. Costs have been very reasonable, with some charges even waived when procedures were split. I’m deeply grateful for the outstanding care Sundance has received. I hope this review helps anyone facing similar complex health concerns with their pet.
This place has been great. I picked up a two week old puppy crossing the border and they checked her out, after hours, no charge. We returned after the puppy's last vaccine due to an allergic reaction. Absolutely friendly, efficient, explained everything, valuable instructions and made me feel comfortable with what was going on. They made me feel like my puppy was the best looking, sweetest, most intelligent...everything. That, in itself, makes the owner like the service.
VSH - what can I say other than I wish I had gone earlier. My dog was having issues my vet couldn't attribute to his liver issues so she sent us to the internist Dr. Istvan. Let me backup- Aiden was the tech that came and spoke with me and assessed Leo. He saw what I've been seeing! I knew something was wrong. He was so gentle and kind with Leo. Then Dr Istvan came in and talked to me about Leo and an action plan. I was able to conferencey husband in when she was explaining everything which I so much appreciated. I went home and they texted us at each step. We saw Leo was under with the Neurologist Dr. Schneider. He called us withing minutes of the text. We knew it wasn't good. We made the decision to let Leo have his final rest without disturbing him. We are so appreciative of the staff at VSH. He said Leo went peacefully no longer in pain. He had an aggressive cancer and mass in his brain and sinus. I know this is a lot of details for a review but never did I feel uncomfortable with Leo's care. The front staff, Aiden, Dennis, Dr Istvan and Dr Schneider. Eunice and Jordan who were so compassionate in their email correspondence. We lost our baby- he was almost 12! But he's no longer in pain. This hospital staff treats you with respect and compassion. I truly appreciate it! (Updated with the correct Doctor names)
Jasper had an emergency with a disc in his back. Unfortunately this occurred while we were traveling in our motorhome and staying about 2 hours from San Diego and 7 hours from our home. We started with the closet vet office and when the meds weren’t working he recommended a nuero surgeon, SVH and one other came up and we called SVH first and they were able to get us in immediately and connected with the surgeon. Dr Snider explained all that needed to be done his staff explained our costs and care and kept us updated. We are now on day 4 of his recovery and all is going well. If we needed anything said they gave us a direct way to do so. I have confidence that Jasper got the best possible care and he will make a full recovery. Can’t thank all the people who have helped us in our time of need!
The staff was wonderful with Ruby and at handling my stress. They stopped her vomiting and got her hydrated again. That was a game changer for my sweet lil girl. The xray showed a foreign item and let me know my options. She passed the item the next morning in her stool thank goodness and no surgery was needed 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 Many tears of gratitude to the staff and Dr. Jack G.
