My boyfriend and I adopted a puppy from a shelter on Monday 3/23. The next day, we noticed her spay incision was opened and appeared infected. We brought her to VEG because it was the closest animal ER that was open. We were asked immediately after entering what the problem was and got into a room right after. We did not have to wait for anyone to come in and Suki was evaluated right then and there. Everyone was so sweet and genuine and we could tell that they were taking us seriously. Suki got an ultrasound to check that her internal stitches were still intact and then we were given a mild sedative (gabapentin), pain medication, and antibiotic for her. We were expecting to pay a minimum of $1000 but the whole visit was a little over $300. We went to an ER for our cat a while ago that also only needed an ultrasound and it costed $1,300 not including the initial visit fee so we were pleasantly surprised by VEG’s pricing to say the least. Dr. Ella Macquisten was so great and understanding and also made sure that we were involved with everything and didn’t make any decisions without asking first. We were in and out within an hour and Suki is doing great. Could not recommend this ER enough.
We had an urgent need for our dog who just would not stop vomiting. I will never go to another pet ER besides VEG again if I can help it. They were awesome. When I called, the vet actually consulted on the phone with me for several minutes, and thoughtfully too. They took the time to check in at each point over the two days we were there about the treatment plan and reviewing estimates before collecting payment, which felt less jarring than other places that just do everything and then charge at the end. They have bedrooms you can stay overnight in with pull outs and bedding. They have a well appointed shower. And we got to snuggle with our dog the whole time we were there, so she didn't have to be locked up unless we had to leave. They checked on our dog regularly and were often immediately available but also communicated well if they were juggling other patients. They also had phone chargers and a laptop you can watch movies on. They offered snacks and drinks, though they are nextdoor to a grocery store and several other options. I also witnessed them call an Uber for an 82 yo lady in the middle of the night who had a cat needing to be seen when she said she couldn't drive. Thanks VEG for being the best ER experience I've ever had for any pet. Now she's home and snuggling and happy.
Our small doggie Ernie was taken here after having a bad reaction to anesthetics during his dental procedure. The staff and doctor on duty were just amazing, so professional and compassionate. The place itself seemed very well equipped, clean, and well run. Ernie is doing well and we are grateful to the good people here. Thank you so much!
I brought my kitten in last night and was seen by Dr. Weymouth and Nurse Mahala. I can't thank them enough for the care and attention they gave us. They were incredibly informative, took the time to explain everything thoroughly, and were so patient with all of my questions. They even stayed overtime to make sure everything was properly taken care of before we left, which really meant a lot to me. What I appreciated most was their honesty and professionalism. I never felt rushed or dismissed, and I could tell they genuinely cared about my kitten's well-being. I left feeling confident that she got the care she needed. Thank you, Dr. Weymouth and Mahala. I'm grateful to have a 24/7 vet I can trust with my pet.
The entire staff was amazing. I think the shout out is how well the team operates and treats the owners, fur babies, and each other. It’s obvious you all love what you do and it shows in how much you dedicate to every family. I’m floored by the level of care and skill each one of you have and bring to the table. Thank you for being so kind and understanding. Pretty remarkable to go from this to home in less than 48hrs.
We brought our dog for a leg injury, on a Saturday afternoon . The place was clean and well laid out, the staff was amazing and seemed to really care. Very upfront with our options and pricing and wait time based on how we chose to proceed. Was so impressed with their kindness and how the main doc took time to really understand our dogs complex medical history and how it would impact treatment. Dr Ella Mac is wonderful!
I brought my cat Charlotte in for some issues with her not eating and also vomiting. And while I’m still trying to work with my primary vet to figure out some underlying issues, I wanted to express my appreciation for all the help and expertise they provided while my cat had some tests and ultimately an overnight stay. She is back to feeling like herself at the time of me writing this and I can’t thank you all enough. I have never had to go to an emergency vet before but it was a good first experience. Thank you so much!
