Viking Veterinary is the kitten’s mittens! I’ve brought both of my bulldogs here for quite some time and they do an excellent job. Their one way flow is very convenient for the animals and their administrative team especially Gina, is extremely helpful with finding appointment times that fit our needs. This is a well run practice with a highly trained staff. Myself and my gremlins sincerely appreciate the Viking team. Thanks!
We are so incredibly lucky to have Viking as our regular vet. Dr Hendricks and Dr Rosie have been amazing at treating our pets. Our dog has slow growing cancer, our boy cat has FIC and a megacolon, and my girl cat just received mammary surgery to remove a suspicious cyst last Wednesday (which Dr Hendricks performed). They all have complicated issues, but they are taken amazing care of by the doctors and team. Everyone, from the doctors to techs to front desk staff, have been lovely to work with. We are moving at the end of August, but I just cannot make the switch to another vet when I trust Viking so much. The commute will be worth it!
My dog (Alaskan Klee Kai) had extreme anxiety with the vet and is not very kind to other dogs so much so that we had to give him medication before taking him to appointments but now he loves the vet! My dog is not just a number to them. They take every step to make sure my dog is feeling safe and calm, from giving him toys to take home and his favorite treats to stay calm. I don’t want to sound dramatic but now he get actually gets excited when we pull into the parking lot to go to the vet. That is something I never thought possible.
I was aware of Fear Free certification before coming here and knew I wanted my next vet to have it. They went above and beyond my expectations with it! Offering treats, toys, catnip, anything to get my cat more comfortable in their space. Dr. Hendrickson did an amazing job at examining Morgana in the least intrusive way and kept her comfortable in her carrier during the whole process. My knowledge from working previously at Mud Bay was appreciated rather than scoffed at, which was an experience I had at my previous vet practice (I never returned there after that). The previous experience put a bad taste of vets in my mind, and I'm glad that Viking Veterinary Care washed it clean. I feel comfortable bringing all 3 of my cats here, and making vet visits more regular. Though, when I heard what the price of an exam was, I was taken back. It was well worth it and they earned every penny!
I adore everything about Viking. Their stress-free, special-care philosophy makes the experience of going to the vet very calm for our crew. From the music, to the gentle touch, the whole visit is meant to be soothing and gentle for our pets and I love that. We aren't specifically attached to any doctor here because they are all amazing! I'm never disappointed to be scheduled with any of them. All the staff, vet techs, reception are always friendly, fun, kind, and genuine! Besides the amazing care you will find here, the prices for services are extremely affordable. If you aren't able to afford a specific treatment, they will discuss all your options with you to find what works best for both your pocketbook and your pet without the guilt or judgement attached. Vet care can be so expensive, but I always leave feeling like they did right by our fur-balls and by us too! If you are searching for a vet to call home, look no further than Viking! <3
Update: I still love these guys. They were great with my dogs, and made my tiny man absolutely ecstatic over his 5-star treatment. They also worked really well with my anxiety ridden self, and slightly anxious doggo. I still recommend them 100%. After moving to Portland, I struggled to find a vet for my pets. They were recommended to me through a coworker. Although you have to book routine appointments 2-3 months in advance, it's worth it. They've dealt with my demon spawn wonderfully and have never pushed treatments on me. They simply do their exam as gently and fear free as possible, and give you a list of recommendations. They also answered all of my questions and concerns. I'm sure I made them late to their next appointment with all of the questions and add-ons I did to them, but they never seemed frustrated or tried to rush me. 100% will recommend them to others and will continue to use them.
We have recently moved away from the Portland area and one of the biggest losses for us was leaving Viking. Over the course of the decade we were with Viking, Dr. Gilbert, Dr. Hendricks, and their teams saw all 4 of our fuzz butts, 2 of them through the end of their lives. We have never been more grateful than to have been directed there after several bad experiences elsewhere. The quality of care from start to finish for both us and our pets was top notch. We cannot recommend them highly enough. For the last 5 years we have primarily seen Dr. Hendricks. Her and her techs took the time to get to know our pets and their quirks, including working with our extremely anxious dog and over the course of that relationship earning her trust. They explained everything they were doing and why. And they always stayed within the budgets we had whether it was for routine care or the many old man dog issues. They have set the bar for any future vets we work with. And that's a high bar. We will be forever grateful to the whole Viking team for everything they've done for us.
