When my pet, Anakin, needed bilateral CCL surgery, it was a big decision. As his owner, I remember thinking that if the surgery gave him even two more good years, it would be worth it. Nearly two years later, I can confidently say it was one of the best decisions we made for him. I am especially grateful to Dr. Phillip Skelding and the entire team at BluePearl. From the beginning, Dr. Skelding was knowledgeable, compassionate, and patient in answering my questions during a very stressful time. Most importantly, the outcome has been incredible. Anakin returned to doing the things he loves—hiking, backpacking, exploring trails, and enjoying life. At 11.5 years old, he recently completed a 29-mile backpacking trip, something I never would have imagined when we were facing surgery and recovery. I am deeply grateful the procedure gave my dog a better quality of life and gave us more adventures together. Thank you for helping Anakin continue to live such a full and active life. I love having my best friend next to me enjoying life!

During out recent visit to BluePearl Pet Surgery at 1025 SW Park Way we were impressed with Dr. John Kiefer, DVM, DACVS-SA and his assistants Renee and Lori. Dr. Kiefer provide a careful and thougtful evaluation of a non-healing wound on our 12 yo Goldendoodle. He provided options for surgical repair versus continuing with local wound care. We were impressed by his depth of knowledge and experience and his assistants were kind and professional.

I can’t say enough about Dr. Kiefer and his team. Dr. Kiefer performed bilateral knee surgery for my pup (for luxating patellas) 4 years ago and a left knee TPLO 2 months ago for my senior Yorkie. I treat this dog like my baby and suffer every time he is in pain. I truly dreaded these surgeries and was very anxious every time I came into the office. However, Dr. Kiefer is very kind. He eases my anxiety greatly and explains everything very well. He truly cares about his patients and I feel grateful that he did my boy’s procedures. Mo is also very nice at the front desk and always makes me feel calm too. And the team is good at communicating with owners for any medication refills or making appointments. I truly hope that nobody has to have their pets have surgery. It is a scary and difficult process. However, if you do need it, I highly recommend Dr. Kiefer and his team.

I highly recommend Blue Pearl for TPLO surgery! The price was lower than all of the other surgery centers I checked around Portland, appointments were immediate, the friendliness and professionalism was incredible and made a hard time so much less scary. From front desk staff to surgeons, they showed such warmth and consideration for my pup (and the stressed out owners!).

BluePearl has a reputation as being one of the best veterinarian facilities around. This location excels in that regard. When I moved here with my senior dog who needed surgery I went straight to BP so they could get the job done correctly the first time. Dr Cioffi did an amazing job removing a large mass from my dog's hind leg. Before the procedure Dr Cioffi patiently listened to my concerns before providing me information to assist with upcoming decisions. The support staff are courteous, professional, and show genuine care for the pets and people.

Staff are incredibly kind and Dr. Cioffi is caring and direct. No pressure for expensive imaging and super clear written guidance on next steps. From scheduling to follow up, everything was seamless. Thanks Blue Pearl team!
