Animal General

We have been bringing our three rescue cats to Animal General since 2022, and we could not be happier with the excellent veterinary care they receive and the considerate way we are treated as pet parents. Scheduling appointments is easy by phone or email, and the front desk team is always friendly, helpful, and efficient. The veterinarians, nurses, and technicians are consistently welcoming, professional, and genuinely kind. Our cats have had a number of health concerns over the years—from ear irritations to GI disturbances and everything in between—and the team at Animal General has always resolved the issues thoughtfully and with real compassion. We feel very lucky to have found them and trust them completely with our pets’ care. Many thanks—and delighted purrs—to everyone at Animal General for taking such wonderful care of our cats!

Animal General is lovely, caring, expert veterinary practice on the Upper West Side. Dr. Chiverton is a caring and attentive veterinarian, attending to Layla's anxiety and my concerns about her wellness. We had a wonderful check in for Layla's 14th birthday. All is well, and though we love Dr. Chiverton, we hope not to see her soon. 🙂

We see Dr Shea for our pup; recently had her first annual checkup. Dr S clearly loves what she does. She discovered a fairly minimal issue and called us immediately so we could begin treatment with meds. We have many vets within a block or 2 of our house but we continue to go a bit farther to Animal General because they are so wonderful. We have been going there for all 6 of the dogs we have had over our adult lives.

Animal General is truly the best vet in NYC - I don’t live local and I will always travel to the UWS to work with only them! Not only is every member of the staff welcoming, friendly and kind, but I know when I bring my dog in she is taken care of in the highest standard! My dog literally loves going to see Dr. Shea! Highly recommend and wouldn’t go anywhere else!!!

My Yorkie pup Fiyero was seen here on 4/10/26. I was so happ to have found Dr. Stacy Segal-Reichlin. I cannot express enough how impressed I was with her. She listened intently to all my concerns and was genuinely interested in my pup's health issues. She was kind and very caring. She provided me with guidance as how to proceed with Fiyero's different issues. I really liked that she made several suggestions as to diet,skin and dental issues without any hard sell that other vets make. She was conservative in her approach as we move forward in treating Fiyero, and made me feel that we will be partners in his treatment plans. Lastly,the office is very efficiently run by staff that greet you. The vet assistants,nurses,etc were so kind and gentle with my pup,they made me feel that he was as special to them as he is to me. I traveled from the Bronx to come here,it was worth the trip. Fiyero has his vet going forward!!

I really like Animal General. The staff and vets are kind and always make time to see my dog whenever she needs it. The prices are also affordable compared to other vet clinics I have visited, and, for what it is worth, they always provide me with all the available options to make sure my dog is healthy. Moreover, they have an awesome membership that offers free exams and wellness visits for my dog, leaving only the costs of diagnosis and medication. I am very glad I began bringing my Roxxi here.

We've been taking our dog and cats to Animal General for at least 25 years, and recommend it highly. Vets are thoughtful, skilled, kind, love animals and show it. Exams are gentle, non-scary. Techs are skilled as well. Clinic is kept scrupulously clean. Front desk staff are smart and also kind.
