Lafayette Animal Hospital

We were delighted with our first visit to Lafayette Animal Hospital. The staff and Dr. Belle J. were so gracious and professional, listening deeply to our questions and confirming our decision to change vets was the right one. We look forward to excellent care for our dog for many happy years to come.

I got to my appointment 10 minutes earlier and I still waited another 25 minutes to be seeing. The consultation lasted maybe 5 minutes with the vet and then they did some blood work on my cat and everything seemed ok with his blood . This visit cost me $575 dollars !!!! Yes blood work and a consultation costed me over $550 dollars .at least the vet was nice and glad my cat hasn’t have anything serious. He was just not hungry due to a "calming" collar he had on. So beware of those things .

The Doctor was knowledgeable and thorough. My pet had a great experience and left healthier and happier. My concerns were addressed and a plan of action was produced.

I went in for a tortoise wellness check. The first in about 20 years. Dr Lynn gave my tortoise a thorough exam. She was very personable & knowledgeable and spent a significant amount of time with us. She gave me recommendations for care and feeding. She also referred me to another vet that could make house calls and evaluate my pet’s living space. I really enjoyed meeting Dr Lynn and I highly recommend her.

I’ve been taking our cats to Dr. Kessler at LAH for eight years and he is an outstanding doctor. Informed, kind, great bedside manner, truly caring. The visit is never rushed. I completely trust and enjoy the encounter and my boy cats (normally skittish to paranoid) are completely relaxed during the checkups.

When I called a variety of veterinarian clinics/hospitals in the Bay Area, so many of the receptionists I spoke to seemed flustered and overwhelmed on the phone. There was also a ton of background noise on their ends and that created a stressful environment even from my end of the phone. One vet in Orinda even said they wouldn't take an appointment with me because I don't live locally and I'd have to join their waitlist. Berkeley Animal Hospital provided minimal transparency on their pricing of laba / dental extractions and kept upcharging me more than what was stated from my previous visit with them. But with Lafayette Animal Hospital, I felt reassured the whole time. My first interaction with the receptionist over the phone was friendly, free of stress (and excess background noise) and they provided full transparency of the costs of their dental services. Lafayette Animal Hospital's pricing is much more reasonable compared to almost all other vet clinics in the Bay and that made it an easy choice to book with them. Lastly, 24 hours after my two cats had dental extractions, Dr. Bowers called to check on them, which is the kind of classic, feel-good customer service you rarely see nowadays.

We have been going to Lafayette Animal Hospital for 30 years most of the time seeing either Dr. Kessler or Dr. Radcliffe. Both of whom are absolutely wonderful human beings and vets. The Entire office staff are absolutely wonderful! Thank you for all of the good care you’ve given to my pets over the years
