My 11 year old dog Fitz had stopped eating and I was obviously concerned. West Plains got me in right away. Through a blood test, it showed some concerning numbers and that he was anemic. Dr Belles gave me some medication to hopefully help with appetite and also antibiotics. We continued monitoring with blood tests, but with no improvement, we scheduled an ultrasound. That showed a large mass on his spleen. With surgery not being an option, he was put on steroids. That definitely increased his appetite and thirst, but within a few days he took a turn for the worst, and it was as time for euthanasia. Through this whole process, Dr Belles was open and honest, and explained things so I could understand. The office staff was also fantastic. I had been to three other vets in the area in the past, and the last two were a waste of time for Fitz. I miss him so much, but it was time and he went peacefully. Thank you Dr Belles and the amazing staff!❤️

This vet office is like going to a family where you trust the care of your pets. They have the same staff for years that are friendly. They know your name, they know your pet. They’re extremely efficient, accommodating, and very talented.

So the room that our dog was seen in was not comfortable. The vet did not like to listen as well do her job by taking cultures to know for sureny. People dont bring animals in to the vet for them to assume and guess then send them home with a fat bill. Just put a cone on your dogs head and keep him out of the sun. Ugh disappointing rude human being. And I will be glad not to go back their. 🙂

I was recently in to see the Vet for my dogs injured leg with the question of age and quality of life. After I had mentioned that we highly believe my dog to have hip dysplasia and that I wanted to know what the quality of life would be with the injury, the vet basically ignored my concerns and that my dog would be fine with seclusion and pain meds. This Vet told me after barely touching my dogs leg that it was an old muscular injury that had flared up. I decided to get a second opinion with a surgeon Vet that actually grabbed both my dogs legs and made them move so he could feel exactly what it was and he found that my dog had a COMPLETE ACL tear on the one leg and a partial tear in the other. He also noticed other signs from history and recommended blood testing to find the ACTUAL reason my dog had gained so much weight. I feed my dog the appropriate amount of food. The vet at west plaines with condescending and rude as she talks down to pet owners. I will never be taking any of my pets back to her because she doesn’t listen to concerns and doesn’t seem to actually care about the animals well being or quality of life.

I got my daughter this little cutie and needed a vet. My boyfriend recommended this place and honestly I couldn't be happier. The pricing is amazing and affordable, they are friendly, knowledgeable and willing to break things down. I had questions regarding my new cat as she was much younger than I previously was told and the vet was helpful and informative to make sure I keep her as healthy as possible. Will definitely come back and would recommended this facility to anyone.

I have a new dog who was a rescue, and can be a bit anxious, especially when it comes to being held in place for shots. She also is a bit reactive to other dogs. West Plains was really kind and accommodating for this, making sure there were no other dogs in the lobby at the time of bringing her in and going back to the car. The vet was also very nice and patient with my dog, and gave good advice on how to help alleviate some of the anxiety my dog was feeling. This is very relieving for me as I was worried about finding a vet that wouldn’t judge my baby for being anxious and reactive.
