We took our dog, Han, to Mt. Empire for a dental and were blown away by how great their pricing was. The dental was super affordable, even with extractions. They took fantastic care of Han and he came home feeling much better after having a problem tooth pulled. I mean it when I say their pricing CANNOT be beat. I would recommend Mt. Empire to anyone looking for high quality, affordable, vet care.
My cat had to get a cleaning and some possible teeth removed. The staff was so kind and friendly even with how busy they were. There were several people in the office, and it is a small lobby so it feels crowded but the staff were quick and made sure everyone got helped. I was quoted $350-$450 depending on how many teeth were pulled and paid just under $300 for 1 tooth pulled and his cleaning!! The quotes everywhere else were $1000! They did such a great job an were so friendly! One downside was that they were booked out 2.5 months in advance, but it was worth it with the job they did and the price being so much lower than expected! Would recommend for anyone looking for a cleaning with possible removal.
I have been with Dr. Leese for over 10 years. I love her and the tech that has been there for many, many years. HOWEVER, in the last couple years the front staff has taken on a rude gatekeepers attitude. Don't even think about letting the staff know about something that was missed and documented last time - they don't want to hear it!!! i was shut down, told they "didn't miss anything last time" (even though i was told they did) I am appalled that Dr. Leese has employees that are so comfortable putting a hand up in a customer's face and telling them to go somewhere else if i dont like it. THEN, THEN saying "bye! bye! have a nice day. BYE!" Yes, it was the girl with the round glasses. Maybe Dr. Leese will say bye to her! Dr. Leese? do you even know??🐶
I don’t usually write reviews but I feel like I could put some peace of mind for some pawrents bringing their dogs to this vet. I brought my dog to get a dental cleaning. At first I was nervous because I didn’t get many instructions and didn’t have a pre assessment to check in his teeth with the vet. I even thought about canceling the appointment because I had many concerns but I knew my dog’s dental health was important so we went with it. This is not like other veterinary clinics, this place is BUSY BUSY! You don’t see the vet because of how busy they are so your contact will be the front desk ladies doing the face to face work with clients. Drop off is hectic. We arrived at 7:30am and it was already very busy. I am not sure why most reviews here say the front staff is rude? I had a pleasant experience with the employee that helped me check in and she even went over the paperwork I was filling in and explained what will happen to my dog during his stay. I was lucky he only needed a standard dental cleaning and no extractions were done so by 3pm he was ready for pick up and had a very speedy recovery from the anesthesia. When I picked him up again the front desk was very nice and even helped me schedule an appointment for my other dog. I think most of the bad reviews regarding the front desk is because these ladies ARE BUSY and multitasking. Both morning and afternoon when I arrived to the clinic there was at least 4 people in line and from what I could see it was only 3 front desk staff? Overall I was very pleased with my experience, the price was extremely affordable and they even called me the next day to check up on my dog to make sure he was on the path to recovery.
I want to share my experience so other pet owners can make informed decisions. I will never bring any animal of mine to this vet ever again. About three weeks before this incident, I brought my 11-month-old dachshund here for a neuter and had a good experience with the clinic at that time. However, when my dog became seriously ill, my experience was very different. Wednesday night he stopped eating and began vomiting repeatedly. I brought him in Thursday as a walk-in patient where x-rays, bloodwork, and an exam were performed, and I was told he had pancreatitis. Because his symptoms continued, I brought him back Friday and he was hospitalized. On Saturday I was told he was doing "normal dachshund things" again eating and drinking so I picked him up. After bringing him home, he refused food again, continued vomiting, had diarrhea, and appeared extremely thin and unwell, which was very concerning for a young and normally very food-motivated dog, especially after being told he was doing well in the clinic. I took him to an emergency veterinary clinic where the vet stated she could actually feel the obstruction during the exam. Imaging then confirmed a large intestinal obstruction through x-ray and ultrasound, measuring about six inches. I understand that medical situations can change quickly, but it is difficult for me to understand how something of that size in such a small dog was not identified or more strongly considered earlier when he had been presenting with persistent vomiting and refusal to eat for several days. The emergency veterinarian also explained that because the obstruction had likely been present for multiple days, there was concern about potential intestinal damage and the possibility that euthanasia might need to be considered if the damage was severe. Thankfully we were able to move forward with treatment, but hearing that as a pet owner was incredibly difficult and highlighted how serious the situation had become. This resulted in nearly $4,000 in emergency care, after already spending over $400 during the initial visits. When I contacted the clinic afterward, I was told the treatment plan still made sense and that things likely would have progressed the same way. While I did receive an apology, the conversation left me feeling like there was little accountability or lack of care. I understand veterinary medicine is a demanding profession and I respect the work veterinarians do. I’ve heard both very positive and very negative feedback about this clinic from others. Unfortunately, my experience fell on the negative side. When you’re not a veterinarian yourself, you place a great deal of trust in the professionals caring for your pet. Based on my experience, I would encourage other pet owners to trust their instincts and seek a second opinion if something doesn’t feel right. As a small side note, when I picked him up Thursday he also had a noticeable scratch or abrasion on his nose that was not present when I brought him in originally. I have also included a photo of the obstruction in the review photos for context.
Very unorganized office. Very rude staff. Our records have been saved under other peoples names, to where this office was unable to find our records and tried to DOUBLE Charge us for another examination because this vet filed our papers wrong. Went home, found our paperwork and took it back to show their error and was met with more attitude. This vet gives you "cheaper" vet visits, but DOUBLES the price of medicine at any other vet or pharmacy. With all the issues at this vet for the past 10 years we have done research and found much better vets for the same rate, if not cheaper than this vet office….. My grandmothers dogs came and had to be dropped off for exam and shots as they rarely want people to walk in with appointments and then both dogs came home with kennel cough!!! The vet didn’t care at all and still charged us for the medicine, even though it was contracted at their facility. Over all staff is rude. They use an old filing system for paperwork, we have had multiple issues trying to get our records sent to other vets office and are always met with bitterness and attitude from this shop. We’ve had nearly all of our family members have had a bad experience with this shop, nearly 10 of our family members have switched vets. This vet is a scam for new people in town who dont know the says of this shop…. Also beyond annoying when we went in and donated freely $50 in the donation box, they wouldnt give us a tax receipt????? Weird……
I contemplated whether to give this review. I have trusted Dr Julia with my dogs for many years with no complaints. However, this last time my dog was very sick, and my experience was heartbreaking. I know Julia's team most likely did all they could do to save my 4 year old mini heeler; Bailey. She had spent the night at their vet clinic hospital for three nights and it was mutually decided she needed to go to Pet Emergency for further tests. I agreed to pick her up in the am and take her in for an ultrasound. When we arrived at Mountain Empire Veterinarian, we were taken to a side room. The vet technician came in the room and told my husband and I, "Im sorry but Bailey didn't make it through the night." I just started bawling uncontrollably and in total shock. Why didn't anyone call to tell me? Why not give me a heads up before arriving? Then the technician came into the room with a white coffin box and said to me, "You should have taken her in yesterday," Even though we agreed upon the following morning as her numbers were improving. This was a shocking way to learn of my dogs passing. It was inconsiderate and heart breaking. We asked for our dog and what was taking so long. They explained, they were removing the IV and cleaning her up. As a client, I have observed their office super busy, long wait times, and personal service declining. I just dont want anyone else to go through this experience. A simple phone call would have prepared me, rather then going through this awful ordeal. I just paid my bill, and I am still experiencing the sadness of that day.
