Black Mountain Animal Hospital - Rancho Peñasquitos, San Diego Veterinarian

I have been taking my rescue dog to Black Mountain Animal Hospital for about a year. They gave her a check up and got all vaccines up to date. I receive reminder messages for up coming booster shots and the prices are better than corporate owned animal hospitals. The staff is friendly, appointments are on time, and they are great with my dog.

I truly regret taking my cat to this place for his teeth cleaning and extractions. This place is a butcher shop, run by a non-caring doctor who has an ego the size of California. He is incapable of empathy. The moment he collects his fee he washes his hands off and is no longer available to assist or consult on any post-op complications that might arise and you will be on your own. This is a very unusual model to run a medical practice. The day after my cat’s surgery I called to report some complications and was told that the doctor was not available and for all practical purposes the hospital was closed. I called on a Wed morning and not after hours or on a weekend. In my experience, other practices provide the opportunity to talk to a doctor to assess the situation and give advice. I was told by a staff member who was there to answer the phones to take my cat to an ER. When I complained about this unorthodox practice, the doctor was offended and promptly sent me my cat’s records and told me to find another vet. He, or any of his staff, never called to find out what happened with my cat. As I am writing this, my cat is hospitalized and I am not sure whether he will make it. If you love your pet and don’t want him/her to suffer needlessly avoid this butcher shop of horror.

I've had the most amazing experience at Black Mountain Animal Hospital. The staff are thoughtful and caring. The veterinarian is informative and provides all options for care. I don't feel pressured to choose a service for my Cat, Papash. My kitty has been sick more recently and we have run several tests to rule out anything major. It's affordable and they work with me on my budget. I know he is in the best care!

Dr. Polo, Forrest, and Alyssa were rockstars per usual. Standard follow up with Sunshine the beagle’s chemo treatment and shes been showing great signs of improvement overall. They treated her for a left ear infection that popped up and as busy as the clinic was on a Friday afternoon, they did a phenomenal job taking care of us and all furry fam patients around us with great quality and care. 10/10 as always and can’t thank you all for being so supportive with Sunshine’s health.

We just got our new puppy and scheduled appointment for vaccines. An appointment was available same day, which was perfect. Staff and the Dr. was extremely kind, knowledgeable, and helpful. You can tell they are deeply for all animals who goes in there. We received a lot of helpful information and was informed about risks and other things that is pertinent to owning a new pet. 10 out of 10 recommend 👌

This place is extremely petty about money. Was only trying to get an X-ray done and didn’t need another exam so booked here only for that purpose. They treated 15 minutes late as 30 minutes late and tried to get me to leave my dog so they can see her in between appointments. They told me to come back around 2:30 to wait up to 90 minutes for a vet to see my dog in between appointments. When I tried to reschedule they treated me like I didn’t show up and then proceeded to charge me more and then gaslight me as if I didn’t show up multiple times when I had showed up and they just pushed me aside because they wanted to get to lunch. They act complacent because they clearly have enough customers there and do not care about your business or your time. Do not book with them unless you want to be treated as less than human. Hopefully they treat pets there better.

Highly recommend Black Mountain Animal Hospital! We've been taking our dog here for over a year now, and have had nothing but good experiences. Our dog has had a minor surgery, her vaccines, and check-ups here. Doctor Polosetki and Sarah are always SO helpful and kind to our pup, along with the rest of the staff. We always feel comfortable coming here.
