Dr. Sara is, without a doubt, the best veterinarian we’ve ever worked with. As a physician myself, I understand how demanding the healthcare field can be—but Dr. Sara brings a calm, compassionate presence that immediately puts you at ease. She takes her time, listens carefully, and treats your pet with the same love and attention she would her own. For the first two years of our puppy Cleo’s life, Dr. Sara was an absolute gem. From routine visits to Cleo’s spaying procedure—after which she recovered beautifully—Dr. Sara was always thorough, kind, and incredibly knowledgeable. The only reason we are no longer seeing her is because we moved out of state—but we already miss her and the exceptional care she provided. I can’t recommend Scott’s Addition Animal Hospital and Dr. Sara highly enough. If you're looking for thoughtful, expert veterinary care, this is the place your pet deserves.

I really don’t want to write a five star review because I know what a lot of five star reviews do: increase traffic, which means it may be a little more difficult for me to find an appointment in the future. But this animal hospital absolutely deserves it. They were able to get the sweetest cat in for an appointment quicker than the other places I called, and run tests to find out what might be troubling him. The waiting room was large and extraordinarily clean, and the folks who I talked were courteous and friendly. Dr. Jane outlined the potential issues and gave clear test and treatment options. There was also a small parade of golden retrievers while I was there which was a joy. The only small things I would change would be to add sunshades in the front because it gets pretty hot in the summer, even at 8 am, and to provide an online form for submitting new patient information in advance because my handwriting is terrible. 10/10 will visit again if needed.

Jane has been taking care of Wilson for almost 10 years. She and her staff are absolutely the best. We wouldn’t take Wilson anywhere else. Thanks for always taking such great care of him.

I saw Dr. Sara. Do not recommend. The doctors seemed quick to suggest euthanasia rather than taking the time to explore treatment or wellness options. It felt rushed and dismissive, especially given how serious and emotional these decisions are. I would advise getting a second opinion before making any major decisions here.

We are so thankful to have found Scott's Addition Animal Hospital! I have worked in the veterinary field for the past 6 years, and I am consistently pleasantly surprised by their professionalism and quality of care. I understand deeply the dire need for veterinary care nationwide, and can say from experience that the entire team works so hard to provide care to the RVA/surrounding communities. Dr. Jane is wonderful, and the assistants/techs/front staff are always so patient and kind. The most outstanding part for me and my partner was seeing how our previously vet-aggressive cat was cared for, and how he responded to the staff. He has needed sedation before for very simple exams/vaccines, but was relaxed enough to let the staff do an exam, vaccinate him, and clean out his ears...something we aren't even able to do at home. Our youngest cat also warmed up very quickly to the staff, and we were given solid advice and ideas on how to help her through the transition of becoming a much more confident (and litter trained) indoor kitten. Scott’s Addition Animal Hospital is wonderful to work with at every level of the practice, from the front desk, techs, LVTs, and of course Dr. Jane Hiser. She has been caring for my cats and dogs for more than 10 years and she is simply the best. All the staff are friendly, welcoming, and knowledgeable. They’re a busy practice but find ways to work with us to handle issues as they come up, and consistently show they care about us and our pets.

Truly the best vet I’ve ever been to. I’ve been to about 5 vets in the last several years and Dr Sara and the team at Scott’s are by far the best. Dr Sara gets on the ground with my kitties rather than forcing them onto the table, is never rushed on our visits, and thoroughly explains everything. All the vet techs and front office staff have been wonderful. I never have to wait more than a few minutes when I arrive for an appointment. Cannot emphasize enough how much this vet office exceeds all my expectations!
