I've been taking my cat Henry to Banfield's Belmont location for 3 years now. I'm happy to sing the praises of Banfield's wonderful vets and kind, compassionate staff. Wish I could give more than 5 stars!
Dr. Rojas and all of the staff here are exceptional. I used to live nearby but continue to use this location bc of the quality of care my cat receives.
The pros: All the staff at my location have been very nice, especially front desk and the techs. Thank you for all of your care with my cats. Access to appointments, urgent and otherwise, was easy. Everyone was very kind when we had to put our cat down and the process was mostly smooth and empathetic. The cons: READ THE FINE PRINT OF THE WELLNESS PLAN BEFORE YOU SIGN. ESPECIALLY FOR SENIOR/ILL CATS THAT MAY DIE. This part is my fault for not asking/reading the fine print but please use me as a warning. If your pet dies while on a wellness plan, you will still need to pay for the plan after their death or pay off the balance you have. You cannot transfer the plan to another (living) animal. I will also echo other reviewers and say that communication is not good. I had to call every week for several weeks to ask for updates on the status of surgery for my kitty with an eye tumor. No one ever called me back or told me that no surgeon was willing to touch it. I had to figure that out on my own. You see a different vet every time you go, which would be fine normally but no one reads past history within their own system so it's like starting over every time.
No idea what these low reviews are about. If they genuinely happened, Banfield has been working hard to turn things around. Everyone was very kind and patient with me as I described my pet’s behavior. Very transparent about costs and treatment plan options. Very clear they all know what they’re doing and did not feel at all like they were trying to push me to spend more money. Great service overall, and I’m feeling very comfortable with continuing to come here
The service and prices are just fine. Comparable to any other vet in Portland. What is not fine, is the lack of communication. There has been several times when I show up after checking google only to find the place closed with a random sign of 'closed today' . Like today, April 11th. I came to pick up my dogs prescription after seeing 'open' on Google only to find the place is closed. I get constant emails from this place to remind me to bring my pets in or sign up to some service, but you can't send an email communicating your closures? You can't even be bothered to update google? WHY? All four of my pets are literally on the monthly wellness plans. There is no reason why people who pay for premium services shouldn't be made aware of changes, Closures etc. No grace whatsoever when you are even 5 minutes late to an appointment. I arrived 7 minutes late after giving my dog calming drugs only to be told that they can't see him anymore. Absolutely no grace towards clients and patients. I've already reached oit as well to 'customer care'...no answer so far. You guys rock!
Always had a good experience. My dog is bossy & it's sweet that they are non judgmental about barking. They recommend meds for his anxiety and are very present with my puppy. They got him in right away and at 7:30am answered the phone for a drop off confirmation. I love that they have options for long term care plans that will allow him to go to any Banfield. They are always professional and smiling plus they treat my dog humanely. I also like the leash hooks at the desk. My puppy peed when they tried placing him on the scale and they have a accident station in the lobby they used to clean it up and I wasn't embarrassed at all with how they handled it. I like em. Thank God for Banfield.
Bagel, our 3-year old Beagle had her vaccinations and any other current preventive care covered by our Optimum Wellness Plan recently and we are grateful for the peace of mind we have that she is up to date and healthy.
