VCA Cat Hospital of Philadelphia

We used VCA Cat Hospital to help with the export paperwork to move our cat to Dubai, as they are registered with the USDA and can issue health certificates. They were excellent at proactively providing information and making the whole process easy. My kitten also was spayed with them and she did well and they treated her so sweetly. I dropped her off the night before so she would be there for the first surgery and I heard when she was upset about being in the kennel they held her and carried her around before the surgery to keep her calm until it was time. Everyone there seems to love cats and they are also very patient with cat parents.

Great experience every time. The staff and doctors are very professional and kind. Communication is excellent—they send timely updates on lab work and appointments. I also appreciate that they check in after visits to make sure my cats are doing well. Highly recommend!

The VCA office in Philadelphia at 226 S. 20th Street is a professional and a caring place. This is the first time I had a cat and they were extremely polite, professional, and were very caring for the care of my cat. My cat had a wellness check and ear cleaning. Sanai showed so much care and even followed up to see how she is doing. Ryan helped my appointment with ease. Overall, the entire staff was excellent and made me feel comfortable, I am glad that I brought my cat to this facility.

This place will overcharge you and will say your cat needs vaccinations that it doesn’t need. I called two other vets and they said my cat was given additional vaccinates that it didn’t even need and was overcharged. In addition, I was told a tech would see my cat than the doctor vet said he had to be seen by her so they charged me an additional $200 when nothing was wrong with him. This place will overcharge you. In addition to her comment to my review, she is now stating my cat has not been see by her and I’ve been there twice. Good to go to a honest place.

Had a good follow up and discussion about VCA with my partner and the vet seen. I want to highlight some of the good elements here, and a warning to check your SPAM folder if you are waiting for results. Some pros are the scheduling system, vets, and ability to get same day appointments. The prices here are significantly higher than elsewhere. And didn’t see results from tests in a timely way and better communication structure would have helped. It does still feel a bit like a factory to care for cats rather than really listening and helping. But, this is less a result of individuals who work there (they seem to care about the animals) and more a result of the automatic structure of VCA. We found a vet we like much better, who took the time to walk us through all options, really meet our cat, stayed in the room the whole time, and followed up when they said they would. It can feels like VCA wants to over sell you on hella expensive items, procedures, and general wellness care with the automatic advertising strategy. That said, there are people there who do care about animals and show it.

Very expensive clinic even considering the "downtown premium". They did a good enough job vaccinating my cat and doing a fecal matter test and wellness exam, so if you only need basic care and are willing to pay the premium for location convenience, this isn’t a bad place to go. Be warned, however, that if you’re ever in a tight spot VCA will unashamedly exploit your situation and take advantage of you. I had to get a very simple 1-page health certificate signed to move to the Bahamas and VCA insisted on charging me $579 for that signature under the pretense that a USDA health certificate is required (which is false—i currently write this review from the Bahamas)! Check out the screenshots of the quote and the page i needed signed. I ended up resolving this issue by going to the nearby Art City Vets who charged me a much more reasonable $55 to sign this paper.

The worst experience I’ve ever had in a vet clinic. I brought my cat for annual vaccination in the early June. After the physical exam, I understand my cat has some health conditions, but what they suggested was a $1,500 treatment plan. I totally understand they want to bring all they can offer to my baby. This time on 6/25 is supposed to be a booster shot appointment. It turns out I payed $165.7 for a single booster shot?! I argued at the concierge for at least 15min and told them I wasn’t got informed on any of the payment plans today. What they told me was: "Every time you came here you’re paying for the vet’s experience so the fee is mandatory EVERY SINGLE TIME. If you are looking for a cheeper option, you should look for a vaccination clinic." I can definitely pay for the physical exam fee but I wasn’t get a chance to know there’s a re-check exam fee. Isn’t this your problem?
