Philadelphia Animal Specialty & Emergency (PASE)

PASE is amazing! I brough my 8 year old Doberman (Minna) in to find out why she seemd to be in alot of discomfort. They diagnosed via an xray that she had a twisted stomach (GDV). She would die within 24 hours if she didn't have emergency surgery. Complicating the issue, Minna has an enlarged heart (DCM) so surgery is extremely risky. They quickly assembled a board certified surgical team headed by Dr. Samuel. Dr. Samuel was the best! She explained all the issues to me and was extremely caring. The outcome....success!! 4 days after surgery, Minna is doing great! I am extremely thankful for the outcome. However, the reason I am reviewing their service is not 100% outcome driven. The staff at PASE is excellent and deserve recognition. Everyone there was so kind and professional. The front desk staff, the intake vet, the vet techs were all incredible. Special kudos to Erin and Dr. Samuel. I want to thank you all at PASE. Minna and I are so thankful for your empathy and love!

We have been brining Bogie over here from South Jersey for B Cell lymphoma treatments. The news of our 4 year old Bogie having cancer was devastating but today thanks to the team there with Dr Davis, Laura and so many others Bogie Graduated his Chemotherapy treatments. They have been amazing from the front desk answering our many phone calls, the friendly staff when we get there, and the amazing techs and Doctors helping us through this. Would highly recommend the Philadelphia Animal Specialty & Emergency Hospital.

We cannot say enough wonderful things about Dr. Krishnan and the entire team at PASE. Making the decision for Gary to have his eye removed was incredibly scary and emotional, but every single person made the process feel seamless, supported, and so much easier than we ever expected. From the front desk team who greeted us with kindness, to the assistants and nurses who treated Gary like he was their own, to the doctors who helped guide us through every step — everyone was exceptional. Dr. Krishnan took the time to answer all of our questions, explain everything thoroughly, and made sure we felt informed and comfortable with the plan. Throughout the day, the team kept us updated and never left us wondering how Gary was doing, which meant more to us than they probably realize. Most importantly, Gary is doing AMAZING. He recovered so well, adapted better than we ever imagined, and best of all — he is now cancer free. Looking back, although it was a scary decision, it was absolutely the right one for him. We are beyond grateful to everyone at PASE for their compassion, communication, expertise, and the genuine care they showed our family. Thank you for taking such incredible care of our boy and helping give him many happy years ahead.

First time at PASE on Washington Ave with my 15yo fur baby & I can't say enough about everyone. Dr W and the entire staff from front desk associates to Vet tech Raven - I was relieved to know Gina was in good hands. Highly recommend for emergency &/or necessary diagnosis procedures. Ryan at Penn is great but it always seems so busy, chaotic & upsetting to bring her there so as an alternative PASE is terrific. Most of the docs are Penn trained!

We had to rush our cat in for emergency care after calling our primary vet who recommended PASE. From the moment we arrived, the team was incredible. Within a minute of our arrival, he was taken back for vitals which immediately reassured us that he was in good hands. Dr. Marshall checked in with us multiple times while they were running vitals and bloodwork, keeping us updated every step of the way. She was extremely thorough and made sure we fully understood what was happening so we could make informed decisions. She carefully talked through multiple care options, costs, and never made us feel rushed or pressured. It truly felt like our cat was genuinely cared for, and the entire staff was knowledgeable and compassionate. The front desk team was also calm and friendly during a stressful time. We’re incredibly grateful for the care we received and would highly recommend them for emergency services. Thank you Dr. Marshall and the entire PASE team!

We had the BEST experience with our dog Bauer at PASE! We met with Dr. Kerns from the neurology team. He was so wonderful. His knowledge was evident in our conversations, but moreover, he was so thoughtful about making sure we as the pet owners knew how to manage our dogs epilepsy. He was thoughtful about the costs and time it can take to manage an epileptic dogs routine, and wanted to make sure going forward we balance caring for Bauer and not emptying our wallets. I loved his realistic approach that also focused on Bauer's longevity. I would recommend again and again! Thank you PASE and Dr. Kerns!

I will never forget the date of August 24, 2025. That being said my daughter and I had to rush our cat Gracie to the emergency clinic. When we walked in the door we were scared and unsure what expect. All of the staff noticed, Especially my Daughter . They were able to send me distract her from what was going on by offering her hot Chocolate. They treated us like family and made it feel like we were never alone that they would be there and helped comfort us throughout the entire process. I made them aware that Gracie was having trouble breathing. A nurse was called Immediately And made aware of the situation. The nurse actually came into the waiting room to complete an evaluation. Before we know it, the nurse was taking her back so she can receive oxygen and feel a little bit more comfortable. My daughter and I were Escorted to a patient room So we can speak with the doctor. When the doctor entered the room, she made us aware of what her examination showed and answered any questions we had. She explained what test can be completed next to help Then figure out what was going on with Gracie. As well as what she felt the best next steps would be. Unfortunately, that day we found out that Gracie had cancer all throughout her lungs. We decided to put Gracie to sleep.. They allowed us to spend time with Gracie to say our final goodbyes. We were also given a paw print with her name, some of her fur and whiskers to always remember her by. We were even offered to take the body home to have a home Burial or to have her cremated. We opted to have her cremated.Through this process, and my daughter never felt alone. I highly recommend PASE To anyone. Thank you guys for everything that you do, you helped my daughter and I get through One of the toughest things that we had to face.
