Mortimer may look like a grumpy boy all the time, but he LOVES the staff at AMVC. He purrs, lets them all do their thing, and always receives the best care. Dr. Pirok in particular is incredible. All the doctors are. She helped us diagnose our boy with IBD in a manner that didn’t overwhelm us with bills. She called us after hours with her own thoughts and recommendations, emails us promptly, and always follows through with any concerns we may have. The entire front of house staff is amazing with getting medications refilled promptly, allowing us to fit an appointment in when needed, and gives us check up calls the day after a visit. We know Morty is deeply cared for here and we will continue to trust the team with his health and well being.
This is the most WONDERFUL vet for my very sweet and very timid rescue dog, Millie. Doctor Hommel is absolutely amazing- so kind, gentle, patient, and knowledgeable, and all of the vet techs and front staff are just so sweet and gentle with handling Millie. I have always gotten appointments the week I called and even magically gotten last-minute, same-day appointments for more urgent situations. The way they prioritize Millie's comfort is so wonderful and heartwarming to see. I am definitely an anxious pet parent and take her to the vet a lot/ask a lot of questions, but they never make me feel like I'm crazy for doing so hahaha. Millie also sees a specialist at Penn and they are amazing with communicating with the specialist regarding things like bloodwork and routine monitoring, etc. Veterinary care, like human healthcare, is expensive everywhere right now- especially in Philadelphia. I find the prices here be generally the same as what is offered by other clinics in the area.
Proceed with caution. I went here because my dog needed some imaging as determined by her primary care. I called around to different vets who would do this for the lowest price because she may need this care for the rest of her life and I need to make it economically feasible. I stated this clearly when making the appointment and was told they would still need to do a wellness appointment to establish care. That was fine to me, but then they used that appointment to try and get me to get a bunch of other services. At the end I was able to push back and leave with just the imaging. I emailed them to ask them to send the images to her PCP and turns out they did an ultrasound and didn’t take any pictures. So I was out if $150 and now have to go through this process again (obviously with another vet). Please be firm with these guys because they will try and upsell you like your pet is a car and you’re trying to get an oil change without 20 more things the shop is trying to sell you.
My 3 cats have been going here for years. We see Dr Hommel. She is so thorough and helps us feel very informed about their health. She answers all the questions and guides us toward making the best decisions. The front desk staff is very helpful and quick to respond to queries on the phone. Fabulous vet and experience here!! Thank you AMV for all you do for our family! <3
Took both my dog and cat here for about a year and nothing but good things to say about them. Always provide top notch care, take time to explain things in simple terms and allow the handlers to be part of the planning/decision making process for health treatments. They always offer follow up calls to check on sick pets and have always been so responsive with any concerns we voice. Transparent about pricing. Our pup has vet anxiety and requires a muzzle and they are always so good with her and allow me to advocate for her so that she doesn’t get too stressed out at visits. We had to take kitty here for end of life treatment and they were nothing but kind and caring during that difficult time.
This is the best vet my dog has been in 13 years. Today was her (Reeses) 1st visit and from the front desk, the techs and the Vet (Dr. Hope) the experience was truly amazing. The office is very clean, the staff is super friendly, they answered all my questions and explained in details. They showed compassion and you can they all love animals. I would highly recommend this practice to anyone who want the best care for their pets. Update: As of 11/23 Reese passed away and she was 16 1/2 years old. I was fortunate enough to take the photos in the red glamour dress an hour before she passed away peacefully and naturally at home. I just want to clearly thank Art Museum Vet for always being compassionate, kind, and always treating Reese like family. There were many times this year Reese was sick and art museum vet always made miracles happen. My financial situation was not the best and they always treated her, provided care and medication with solutions and worked with what I can provide since she was an established patient. Once again if you want the best care for your fur babies please go to Art Museum Vet. They treat you and the babies like Family.
I never write negative reviews, but I've had a few too many negative experiences here. Most recently, I brought my cat in for a sick visit. The vet examined her for all of one minute and determined my cat's pain was dental related and I'd need to get her another dental cleaning. Mind you, she'd had a dental cleaning/extraction 2 months before (at this vet's insistence!). They sent me home with pain killers that most cats get after surgery, and an estimate for a $3k dental cleaning. Nothing about this visit felt right (including when they put me in a very weird position about which bloodwork to order - the standard one, or the one double the cost "that the vet recommends"). So I took my cat to a different vet practice and after a very thorough exam, they determined her pain was a muscle injury, not dental at all. Proceed with caution at Art Museum Vet.
