Antioch Dog and Cat Hospital

I have taken my cat Oliver here for years. Thorough, detailed exams, ability to ask all my questions and have a clear next step. Most recently, in January, he had to have a dental cleaning and tooth extraction and the vet tech Emily kept me in regular contact and updates on how Oliver was doing and checked in on how his recovery was afterwards, the whole process made me feel a lot more covered and less anxious about the work needed. Oliver since celebrated his 13th birthday and doing great!

I can’t say enough good things about this clinic and the staff. Everyone there is incredibly kind, but I especially want to highlight one of the vet techs who made such a difference for my family. Emily always takes the time to explain things in a way we can actually understand, never making us feel rushed or overwhelmed. I really appreciated how thorough she is—especially when it comes to medications and making sure we know what should and shouldn’t be mixed. And what signs to look for to make sure our dog was as comfortable as possible and when to tell that quality of life was taking a turn. Our dog, Rambo, was a patient there before he passed away at 15yrs old, from cancer, and I’m so grateful for the care and compassion they showed us during such a difficult time. She made a heartbreaking situation feel a lot less scary and a lot more manageable. It meant the world to us to have a team that genuinely cared, not just about our pet, but about our whole family. I would absolutely recommend this clinic to anyone looking for knowledgeable, compassionate care for their pets.

We have a Hedghehog, cats, a tortoise, and a bearded dragon. I always feel taken care of by the amazing staff here! I always learn so much about my animals and what to watch out for and any questions I have are answered. And if they don’t know, they’ll research it and let you know! When we lost our young cat, the staff here were right by our side to make sure we could grieve and remember. The process was so easy. And it really needs to be easy. I’d like to shout out Emily, who takes our pets in and takes the greatest of care of my pets. Nail trims, foreign body surgery, dentals. She’s great! She speaks Spanish, so if you’re Spanish speaking ask for her!

We followed Dr. Gardner as she provides the most comprehensive and compassionate care for our dog. Daisy adores her (and dogs know)! Thank you for a great first visit to your clinic! Everyone was so kind and helpful!

NOT GOOD ! My cat Lulu was seen by DR Ballenger.. Lulus 15 years old was abandoned 5 years ago and I adopted her. First 2 years she had a bad reaction to the vaccine and has not had one again. I offered to pay for a tills test to verify if vaccines was still working and she informed me that is not legal in Missouri. So she listened to her heart and felt her organs and refused to do anything unless the vaccine was given.I can't have the only animal who has had this happen. Yet no work around was offered. Told thanks for letting us help you (not) and charged 68 dollars for nothing. So I don't believe they treat your pet like it is their own if so she would have found a way to help.... I took my animals here over 20 years ago never had a problem all vets were really good. Now I think some Big Business owns them and not the same. No compassion for the animal. Or at least non was shown by Dr Ballenger.

i can’t say enough good things about this clinic. everyone is so kind, efficient, and communicates really clearly, which makes a huge difference when you’re stressed about your pet. dr. h seriously has a magic touch, both my cat and my partners dog calm down almost instantly when he walks into the room, which has never happened anywhere else. you can tell he genuinely cares and knows what he’s doing. one thing i really appreciate is how honest they are about pricing. it never feels like they’re trying to push unnecessary services or just make money. they’ll recommend what’s best for your pet, but they’re also understanding and respectful if cost is a concern. on top of that, their prices are honestly way better of what i’ve paid or been quoted at other places. overall, i trust them completely and i will never take my pets anywhere else.

Years ago I used to only take my dogs to union hill animal hospital. I loved them and even though I felt like it was overpriced it was worth it to me. I noticed some changes but still I swore it was the only vet I’d take my animals too. Fast forward to now, my husband and I have been living up north for 3 years. He’d always take his pets to Antioch and as our dog family grew I slowly started taking our dogs there because it was so close. The first thing I noticed was how cost effective it was, and they always break down the prices before so you’re not just leaving and get hit with a 1000 dollar bill. You always know exactly what they’re charging you for and I’ve never felt like I’ve been overcharged. Honestly more times than not I feel like they undercharge. With three dogs emergencies happen and they always tend to happen when the vets are closed and appointments are full. Last night my little Lew hurt his leg and I saw they open at 8am but had no available appointments. I brought him in first thing when they opened anyways, and they saw my sweet Lew without an appointment. Now this isnt the first time they’ve done this for me, but this was the first emergency my older dog has had so I was extra worried they might not be able to see him on such a short busy day. (They close at 12 on Saturday) The doctor saw me immediately and they got my baby all fixed up and pain free. I was out of of there before 9am. Union hill is a great vet but every time I go to Antioch I’m reminded why I switched. From the front desk to the doctors you’re surrounded by people who just want to help. I truly feel like they want what’s best for my animals. I can’t express my gratitude enough for fitting in my dog today. You guys helped him and in turn helped me. You are all hero’s. Thank you.
