Over a month ago Dr. Martin was in charge of removing the stitches from my dogs enucleation. Since finding my dog a new vet, I’ve noticed a skin tag near his eyelid that I thought he was just irritating every now and then since it would look raw and bleed slightly. After his first appointment at his new vet, the doctor told me that he still has a stitch left in his eyelid that has been trying to heal itself. The removal of the stitch won’t be as easy as it originally was due to the skin trying to grow over it. I think this shows a lack of attention to detail that a doctor is responsible for. I considered that maybe the doctor left it for a reason, and even if that was the case, I was never informed that he still had a stitch in his eyelid. I love the tech, reception and kennel staff from this location, but I’m very disappointed in the quality of care that was provided by the doctor, as attention to detail and proper care is one of the most important parts of the job.

Awful just awful I went in to get my cat examined and help with anxiety and a possible rabies vaccine I was told to drop her off and pick her up at 4pm. I went in at 4pm and was put in a room and waited a total of 50 minutes with no news. Then a vet assistant came in to tell me her diagnosis without the vet and they microchipped and provided her the rabies vaccine without calling me first. She was provided an over the counter medication for anxiety that never worked twice and it was way cheaper on amazon then whht they sell it for. I was then told to bring her in again for another exam and repay even though they had her an entire day to see what they could prescribe for her anxiety. Crooks.... She had an eye allergy they didnt even acknowledge or let me know whether or not if it was normal or she needed medication for. Also the vet assistants were so scared to even put her back in the carrier as if they've never dealt with a cat. DO NOT TAKE YOUR ANIMAL THERE! I am not that apprehensive about places but this was by far the worst, I wish someone would've told me!! Save yourself the trouble, there are plenty of other places in jacksonville!! I miss VCA Briarcliff in Southside they were way more hospitable and welcoming.

Bad feeling from the moment I saw this beat up waste station outside but we laughed it off and continued on then we check in and wait about 8 min in the lobby and are pulled back to a room which is all good and well. We have a new pup from Jax humane and we were very excited to find a vet closer to home we have 6 dogs and 2 cats and would have loved for this place to be top notch so we could save the drive to our current vet… however this place has reassured me to never look anywhere else again and to suck it up and drive!!! we were left in the room for a total of 50 MINUTES… no one came to let us know they were running behind, get any history or even take his weight. We grew increasingly uncomfortable and worried about the kind of care our puppy would get here. Once we hit 50 minutes of sitting in a small room with harsh lighting, we called it quits and left. We explained to the front desk: "since we have been waiting for almost an hour and havnt seen anyone, not even a tech we have decided to leave." The response was "oh okay" I’m sorry???? What. I’m so understanding of running behind but no communication when we were IN THE BUILDING for almost an hour is crazy behavior for a business. We will not be returning. Or taking any of our 8animals here!

The personnel was very pleasant and professional. I did not require a vet but the woman in reception was very helpful and had a sincere concern for my dog. I just relocated here and she helped me identify my rescue's age and breed and for my own edification did a free chip reading. I couldn't be more pleased with the service I received on my very first visit. LIFE WITHOUT A DOG IS EMPTY!

My sweet Lola passed with VCA on Monday, March 2nd. She and I were treated with so much care, comfort and compassion. Kim in reception helped me along the way, even afterwards, when I realized I wanted my baby’s fur to be picked up rather than mailed out. She was so compassionate with me and very patient, I thank her. The nurse, who I unfortunately did not catch her name, but she had a pin on her name tag, was extremely compassionate and gentle with my Lola during the process. She was patient with me, and walked me through the whole process. The veterinarian, who I also didn’t get his name, was compassionate and gentle as well. He explained the process, and was very gentle with her as well. They allowed me to spend as much time with her as I needed, and ensured she’d be in the best care possible. This process was extremely hard for me and the decision was the hardest thing for me to make. They squeezed time in their day, to assist Lola cross the bridge. They understood the urgency of the situation and was extremely patient with me. I highly recommend this clinic. Losing my girl was the hardest thing I’ve gone through, and they made it a bit more easier. I thank them.

This practice has gone totally downhill over the last year. I have been bringing my dogs here for 20 plus years and it's now all about money. The junior staff are excellent but the manager doesn't seem to want to address issues. The VCA care club is a joke and not worth the money. I have paid $1,200 this year for the care club, barely used it and cancelled at the begining of December. Even though I paid for a full year, my membership was cancelled immediately and they wanted to charge me full price for today's vist. All I received was sorry with no offer of a solution. Beware, there are far better practices that care about your pet more than your dollar. I am transferring the care of my dog to another practice and feel utterly disgusted at how I have been treated. Follow up Jan 16, 2026 VCA Loretto Animal Hospital contacted me to discuss and address my concerns. I very much appreciate their response and wish them future success.

We have been bringing our dogs to this office since 1987 Dr Prince and Dr Eslick Wealways had wonder service. This past year our dog has had multiple vets, all leaving without any notice to us and not finding out until we called to make appointment or showed up for an appointment. Office has changed drastically. Weare being texted to get vaccines that our dog had already received. We dont get a print out of new vaccines unless we ask We have left this practice.
