They almost killed my cat knowing she had a tooth infection that was pretty bad possibly had an ear infection and instead of giving her antibiotics because her eyes were shifting side to side like she had vertigo they gave her a anti-nausea medication that was a neuro responsive one so if it worked and made her quit puking then we knew it was something in the brain well I had to do two rounds of that didn't work I'm cleaning her teeth myself and the the back and forth eye movement stop I think she had an infection in her brain that's why the medication worked not only that my friend took her dog there was supposed to be given a specific vaccination and if the dog does not get the vaccination it's a kind of disease that can kill them well long story short they said that they gave the dog the injection dog gets severely sick has to be put down for them to turn around and say oops I'm sorry we never actually gave him the shot I'm pretty sure they just want your money they will let your pet die before they help them I am just being completely honest from my experience and my friend's experience and my mom's experience. And not only that the anti-nausea medication they only gave me four pills that cost me $75 and they didn't charge me a vet fee so I don't know exactly what they really did but to prove her eyes were going back and forth it was such a weird experience
My dog had an exam where Dr Shannon didn’t touch my dog- not even once. They just had to charge for the exam so that they could "re-establish care" since I had moved back to the area after being gone for just 6 months and I was 99% certain my dog had an ear hematoma. Without touching my dog, she prescribed prednisone, and my dog died of an unrelated infection one week later. Hunny was a member of the family for 12 years and my baby. I thought about going back with my other dog, but why? The first veterinarian my baby saw here was an older gentleman about 2.5 years ago. He retired the next day. Dr. Shannon was just terrible.
The staff squeezed us in on short notice and were incredibly kind and informative. My cat loved them (was purring and flirting with them even while she got a shot!) and the doctor included my son in the exam. Afterward, he played vet for an hour with his toys in his room. Thank you to this wonderful clinic.
I needed to find a veterinarian clinic for our dogs since moving to Iowa for their health check up and immunizations and in order to have them stay at a kennel when I'm traveling out of town. I made an appointment at Veterinarian Associates in Iowa City as the waiting time for new customers wasn't too long. The clinic staff was excellent and very friendly, polite, and professional. The technician truly enjoys dogs and made our dogs feel very comfortable and at ease. The veterinarian was also great and had a great bedside manner while examining our dogs. In addition to getting updated vaccinations, the veterinarian completed a physical exam for both dogs. The costs for the physical exams and immunization was very reasonable and the clinic also sent the immunization records to the kennel I will be using for our dogs. Although Veterinarian Associates is a little further away from where we live and there are some clinics closer, I was very pleased with them and will continue to take our dogs to Veterinarian Associates in the future.
We absolutely love this vet! It's fully staffed and they're all wonderful with animals. Dr. Carlson & Dr. Shannon are knowledgeable and friendly. The vet techs and assistants are welcoming and calm with our dogs. The The office and exams are always very clean. It's very clear this is a group of people who really get how important our pets are!
This place is amazing. My cat has had bladder issues twice this month, and with a new animal at a new vet, I was pretty nervous. Their staff was incredibly kind and welcoming. This morning I had to take him in, got him sorted with meds, but a few hours later he wasn't doing too well. After I called them with a million questions, they asked us to bring him back in just to double check. They answered all of my many questions about what to do for my cat and did not charge us for the second visit. You can tell that these folks go out of their way to make sure you are informed and that your animal has a calm experience. The level of service they have provided makes me feel as though my concerns about an animal I care so much about are genuinely their concerns as well. I cannot thank this staff enough for all the help they have given me with my little guy.
Veterinary Associates has provided my golden the best, affordable care in iowa city for 2 years now. He recently ingested some medicine he wasn’t supposed to and when I called to ask for advice they were so patient and helpful. They even called the next day to ask how he was doing. I really appreciate that any time my dog needs some type of medication or new food, they always walk me through all of the potential options, instead of just recommending the most expensive one like many vets do. I will continue to trust them with my fur baby.
