I took a community cat named Friendly there. She was very ill and was suffering. I took her there to be put down but the vet wanted to be sure and was nice enough to do a thorough exam before authorizing or agreeing with putting the cat down. The cat was in bad shape, she was dirty and her fur was matted but the vet treated her with respect and gave her the dignity she deserved!
I've had a great experience working with Dr. O'Hara, Dr. Rao, and all of the staff at Irvington Pet Hospital. I have 2 senior dogs and vet visits have become a lot more frequent in the past couple of years. They've all been very kind to us: fitting us in urgently whenever possible, answering any and all questions I have thoroughly and with patience, etc. I feel comfortable whenever I have to drop them off for appointments because I know they're in good hands. Thank you!
We truly appreciate their support! They’ve been so incredibly kind and helpful working with us with happy visits for our fearful pup — we can call and ask if it’s busy and they’ve cheerfully let us know that when it’s not so we can give our pup some individual attention to get them comfortable. They’ve helped inform us of many practices and ways, informed us even of notice about some treat types not showing good health results and showing an eagerness to learn and do better. Julissa and Dr. ‘O’Hara who have worked with us even today have especially gone above and beyond for us on this journey. With even doing minor check ins when not needed to help with preventative care. I couldn’t ever ask for better — happy to learn, adjust, and grow. They’ve also given suggestions with upcoming trips of what can be helpful and offering support. Hands down, I highly recommend them. Not just for giving such individual care to our dog — knowing her name, knowing her ways, and with a picture to match, but also for their insight, comfort to our dog, and adaptability. They’ve learned, grown, and adapted to each setback that has come up. Thank you again for taking care of my dog and seeking her long term happiness!
My dog Hammie came in with a stick stuck on the roof of his mouth. He was being uncooperative because of the pain but Cynthia and Dr. O’Hara had so much patience with him. They took it out once Hammie was sedated, Dr. O’Hara was gentle and thorough, making sure he was doing okay and didn’t hurt himself. Cynthia was the sweetest helping us go through the entire process smoothly and calmed me down quite a lot !!! . She spent time staying wrapping Hammie in a blanket and rubbing him to make sure he was warm after being sedated and made sure he woke up okay before leaving the room. Shout out to the front desk ladies and the gentleman who greeted Hammie and weighed him when we came in early in the morning! They were so very helpful and everyone at the vet made sure to make Hammie comfortable and suggested me coming in for happy visits in the future from time to time just to help him learn that vets are not scary and is a happy place ! I am so grateful that you all were so patient when I was panicking. Thank you thank you thank you 💕
I switched to Irvington Pet Hospital earlier this year; I was initially concerned over some bad ratings online but have had amazing experiences there so far with the new ownership/team. I never had any issues scheduling appointments and was even able to get a same day appointment one time for an urgent matter. The staff is very friendly and professional. I enjoyed my interactions with the technicians and appreciate how gentle they were with my pet. Dr. Kasuya is extremely knowledgeable; he genuinely cares about pets and was always very thorough in examining, diagnosing, and treating my dog. Overall, I’m glad I made the switch to this clinic and would highly recommend for both their medical expertise and customer relations.
Terribly run clinic. It’s been on the decline since Dr. Rue retired. It’s like no one who works there cares enough to communicate with each other. There was a period of about two years where the clinic staff called and emailed only my wife despite my request that I be the first point of contact. They also have constant hidden charges and tried to charge my $75 for talking to one of the vets for 5 minutes when I had just brought my dog in for a shot. I literally walked out of the clinic at that point and the manager had to call and apologize for the miscommunication between the staff. I had a teeth cleaning for my dog and the $1000 charge inflated to $1250 due to some hidden charge that they tacked on. Apparently my 14 pound chihuahua’s teeth took them so long to clean that they had to keep her for half a day and charge me extra. And during all those hours, no one bothered to even call me to let me know that I would be charged more than my estimate. The manager talked to me and said there’s nothing she can do…and yet I received an email yesterday saying that any teeth cleanings scheduled in the next month will get a $150 discount. What a slap in the face!! It’s like they just assume everyone is independently wealthy and will pay every charge because they love their dogs. I love my dog, which is why I’m not taking her to these thieves anymore.
Save your money and take your beloved pet elsewhere. I've read other posts about this place regarding their exorbitant fees, and I completely agree! Took my dog there 3 times in two months for an ear infection. First visit was $800+, second visit was $500+, and yesterday, third visit, they quoted us $1200+ for a sedated ear cleaning (we paid $500+ for that at another vet for the same treatment and the follow up visit was only $35). Over $2500 later, and our dog still is not well. They finally prescribed Amoxicillin yesterday. It seems that they are allowing the dog to stay sick so that they can keep getting our money. Our dog has had her annual check ups and has had two surgeries over the years. Trust me, we are very familiar with fees having cared for her over the years including taking her to the emergency, get blood tests, ultrasounds, and other things. Looking at all our vet bills, this place is the ABSOLUTE WORST when it comes to pricing. We used to go there when Dr. Rue owned the place, and in fact, my daughter worked there. Dr. Rue was the best. We decided to try it under the new ownership. It has been an awful experience.
