What a wonderful office in every way! Everyone is so friendly and Dr Lera is excellent, he truly shows his love for animals through his patience, kindness, and willingness to spend time with each one of them! He addresses concerns and is very knowledgable. He is just what I was looking for in a doctor/healthcare partner to care for my fur babies. He has a holistic approach, which I LOVE and doesn’t push anything. Truly Heron Lakes Animal Hospital was the perfect landing place for the care of my pets and I am so grateful to have found them! I know this will be a blessing for us ♥️🙏🏼

My pup hurt her leg while visiting family for the winter and I was scrambling to find a vet I could trust last minute. I cannot say enough good things about Dr Lera and the ENTIRE staff at Heron Lakes Animal Hospital. I have been to SO many vets between all my pets over the years and I have never had such thorough, professional and genuinely kind experience before. From the moment you walk in you are greeted with a smile and joy from their receptionist Victoria (you are so sweet and so helpful!), their vet tech Bert is simply oozing out with genuine love for your pet, and Dr Lera, who took almost 4 hours for a consultation/second opinion visit to make sure all t’s are crossed and all of my questions and concerns were answered fully. I was beyond grateful for the attention to detail and patience. I am a bit of a nervous dog mom, I always have a ton of questions and need detailed explanations and I never once felt rushed or felt pressured into anything. Dr Lera went above and beyond to set up a last minute surgery date for my dog Gypsy with a fantastic surgeon, Dr Cabrera. As nervous as I was the day of the surgery I knew she was in good hands with their staff. Thank you Dr Lera and all of your staff for making my experience so smooth and reassuring. Looking forward to having Gypsy be a full time patient of yours once we move to South Florida permanently. 🐾🩵

Took Rocco in for a dermatology issue with his paws. Dr. Lera was extremely thorough and we started a plan to heal our baby. I would highly recommend Heron Lakes Animal Hospital and Dr. Lera. Very pleased.

I can't thank this team enough. As a fellow business owner in the same plaza, I brought my dog Niko into my shop to say hi to my staff—and out of nowhere, he started bleeding severely from his testicular area. It was unlike anything I'd ever seen, and the bleeding just wouldn’t stop. I was panicking, trying to find a vet nearby, when I realized—there’s one right here in our plaza. I called them frantically, and they immediately jumped into action. I told them I was coming to the back door, and when I got there, three staff members were already outside waiting with towels, ready to help. They dropped everything to attend to Niko. Their kindness, care, and professionalism in that moment was something I’ll never forget. They performed emergency surgery on him and took care of Niko like he was their own. Dr. Lera was absolutely amazing—calm, patient, and incredibly reassuring. He took the time to explain everything and made me feel at ease during one of the scariest moments I’ve had as a pet owner. On top of all that, the cost of the procedure was incredibly reasonable—lower than what I’ve seen at other local clinics. Niko is doing great now, and I can confidently say this is his vet for life. I highly recommend this clinic and the entire staff. They are truly exceptional.

Dr Lera and his team did an excellent job with our little morkie. She had a very acute bladder infection. We thought that she was on the last legs and we were thinking about putting her down . They were able to take care of her and bring her back to full health. She is now a happy, vibrant dog and very energetic. We could not have done it without the support of Dr Lera and his team. Thank you so much for the love and caring that you give for all of your animal patients and their owners!

My dog Ludo and I had such a positive experience with Dr Lera. He really takes the time to thoroughly explain things and connect with the animal so they feel comfortable with him. He is an XL American Bully and looks intimidating but is the biggest baby and Lera treated him just like the big baby he is. The staff was kind and welcoming and very easy to communicate with both on the phone and in person. We will definitely be back and recommending to friends.

We recently switched to Dr Lera for the care of our beloved Sasha. She's an aging Dobie and needed surgery. We were impressed with our first visit and the caring love Dr Lera and his staff showed Sasha. Dr Lera made the surgery happen with some roadblocks he removed for us to move forward. Jump forward to post surgery one month later and Sasha is doing great. All follow-up visits we experienced the same level of care as the first visit. We are so pleased we found Dr Lera and his incredible staff. Sasha is in great hands!
