Great first experience at Common Companion Vet Co! Dr. Franco did an amazing job with my dog and took the time to explain everything clearly, making me feel confident in the care plan. The vet tech was fantastic too—able to safely remove inner ear matting without sedation, which even our groomer thought would be necessary. The appointment was quick, and the entire staff was kind and welcoming. Highly recommend!
The absolute worst experience I’ve ever had with a vet clinic. (As someone who has worked in vet med for 5+ years.) Dr. Puma performed tests on my dog that I explicitly declined due to already having an existing diagnosis from another clinic. Additionally, these tests were unrelated to the issue that brought us into the office and my dog has stress-induced seizures. I explained all of this to Dr. Puma and requested that we stick to the most pressing issue. My concerns were completely disregarded and multiple tests were done without my consent. After all of that, the issue we came in for was never resolved and I had to visit another clinic to actually get results. To make matters worse, my dog was listed as heart worm positive despite a heart worm test not being performed at that time, and a record of only negative heart worm tests from the past. Additionally, they had incorrect medication history and other various issues. I was able to make a formal complaint, but they had to correct my records 4 times. This was months ago and I just found *another* error in the records. I am not sure what is going on in this practice, but they do not seem to know what they are doing. I would never trust them with my animals again. Avoid at all costs.
From my experience. This company couldn’t care less if your babies die or not. They just want your money. The 2 vets I saw both lacked empathy and compassion. Maybe they’re numb to it or just outright cold hearted, but damn. The way Dr. Vigo said the my baby’s tumor probably wasn’t going to stop growing and it’s in such a sensitive placement she didn’t feel comfortable preforming surgery… you would have thought she was informing me that my shoe was untied. In less that a week it’s been $300 in vaccines that she probably didn’t need based of the good ball size tumor in her throat… $200 for a sample of said tumor, $459 for an Xray and $70 for anti inflammatory that they didn’t seem would even be much help. That’s over $1000 for my dog to still be in pain with absolutely no answers, and a specialist referral.
Our senior dog has been seeing Dr. Pumarejo at both Common Companion locations for a few years and has received the best care from her and the team!! He is a pretty old dog and is also veryyy anxious at vet appointments, but she is so patient, gentle, and kind with him, it is so appreciated! We have been to her for annual check ups and sick visits, and she is so thorough and explains everything in the treatment plan in detail. Thank you to Dr. Pumarejo and team!!
I Just wanted to share my recent experience with Common Companion. I had to bring in my kitty Frosty, for an emergency visit due to some excessive vomiting. I was a bit freaked out, but the team was incredible. They managed to fit us in the same day, ran some tests, and provided the necessary medication and treatment. I’m so relieved to say that Frosty is doing so much better now, even after coming home! I can’t express enough gratitude for how accommodating they were. A special shoutout to my tech, Yannah, who was amazing—so compassionate and made sure we understood everything going on with Frosty and the next steps. Dr. Marino was also fantastic! Thank you, Common Companion for all your help! 🐾❤️
We have been clients of common companion vet co for about 5 years. A few years ago they were sold to private equity (AmeriVet Veterinary Partners) and the quality has been steadily getting worse. All of the vets we used to love and trust have left. Staff retention is a problem and we always end up seeing new people like it’s an urgent care and not our primary care vet. Appts have gotten so short and they hardly interact with our pets. The nail in the coffin for us was a routine dental our dog underwent April 2026. We agreed to optional senior dog X-ray package. From the X-ray they were concerned about her heart and asked to send it to radiology. Why the vet is ordering tests they can’t interpret and not being upfront about additional cost to get them read by a radiologist is beyond me. Two days later the vet calls us and regurgitates the radiologist’s conclusions without taking into account any clinical context from the exam THEY performed or from our dog’s medical chart. Told us our dog had pneumonia and needed antibiotics (she clearly did not) and that her x rays indicated early signs of CANCER. Do you know how triggering that is to say to a pet parent? Ended up going somewhere else for a second opinion. Most of the concerns were attributed to the TERRIBLE quality of the X-rays common companion took, which was impressive considering the dog was anesthetized. Other concerns were due to the anesthesia and a previous surgery she had as a puppy. They might have thought to suggest those things before telling us she probably had cancer. For the record, I don’t think any specific vet is the problem. It’s the environment that was created by this private equity buyout. Would recommend taking your pets to a private practice elsewhere if you care about their health and your sanity. Update 5/7/26 after Common Companion response: If you would like to help restore my trust you can email me maintenance and calibration records for the X-ray machine used to demonstrate that your equipment is being maintained to manufacturer standard. And you can reimburse me for the terrible X-rays if you’re not following manufacturer maintenance requirements.
We took our dog to common companion as he was in his transitioning stage of life for professional diagnosis on his condition. While we were there, they took him to the back for fluids and checking on his situation. The vet came in, and of course in a traumatic time, you want to be told all possibilities of what you can do in a situation such as ours. He told us they were trying to stabilize him by giving him fluids, oxygen and trying to warm him up with a water bottle. The vet kept calling him "little dog" (not calling him by his name) and rambling on as if he had any chances for surviving overnight. We were thinking he would give us his veterinary expertise for his next steps, but it seemed as if he was feeding us false hope by telling us that if we could take him to an overnight emergency vet (since they didn't have the facilities to keep him overnight), that maybe the ER could stabilize him, although he was already in transition. They told us if we could make it to the ER in 20 minutes, maybe they could keep him for observation. The only available ER who could take our dog was over 30 minutes away in Atlanta traffic. They kept him in the back for over two hours instead of giving us time to stay with our pet while he transitioned peacefully. When they give us our pet back after keeping him, he had even less vitality than when we brought him in. While the vet left, the techs gave us a bill for over $1000 as we were already distraught. The care they gave was not one of compassion as it just seemed they could have given us the hard talk to tell us to let him go by putting him down. That wasn't even an option given to us. We felt like it was big money grab as we were experiencing one of the hardest moments of our life. Then learning they became private equity, the care and compassion isn't there anymore. Beware taking your beloved pet here for care.
