I’ve been coming here for years. The hours are convenient, and they’ve always done a great job with my three chihuahuas’ nail trims and dental cleanings. Those experiences were wonderful. But over time, the level of care has noticeably declined. I often leave appointments feeling unsure about the guidance I’m given, especially for my 15‑year‑old chihuahua who has a heart condition. The care feels less attentive and far less compassionate than it used to be. Last weekend, they recommended X‑rays that cost $500. Then when the antibiotics they prescribed caused my dog to throw up every meal, I called to ask for help. They said they would call me back — and never did. This has been a pattern for a while now, and it’s incredibly frustrating when you’re trying to care for an elderly, medically fragile pet. What concerns me most is how the focus seems to have shifted toward billing before anything else. Even during emergencies, when you’re scared and emotional, the first thing I hear is, "We’ll need your credit card for the deposit before the visit." In those moments, it feels cold and transactional. Veterinary care should balance professionalism with compassion, and I hope this clinic finds that balance again.
My daughter was emigrating to Denmark, with her cat, requiring a special government certificate of health. Very few veterinary clinics are authorized to provide this service. This clinic was the closest to my residence (Berkeley). There is on site parking which was convenient. Once in the clinic, the staff were friendly, professional and thorough. We saw two vets and a technician to guide us through the process. I was very impressed and happy with the service. The certification fee was astounding: $750. But, that is set by the government, and not the clinic. For those who haven't been through the process, you are required to complete the certification process NO MORE than 10 days before your departure. Highly stressful (on top of the fees!). The staff, aware of this did their best to provide us with their contact information if we had time-constraint problems. Very reassuring! Excellent service, full marks, highly recommended!
Love this vet hospital! The staff is very friendly and super helpful. The doctors here are all extremely knowledgable, down to earth and straightforward which I really appreciate when making decisions for our pets (dogs and cats). Their pricing is competitive and I never feel over charged for services. Appointments are easy to make and my dogs feel very comfortable here, even my grouchy old terrier who has been scared and snippy at other places, he walks in wagging his tail!
I feel so lucky to have found this vet hospital. The front desk staff are helpful and the care my dog has received here is pretty amazing. They fit our labradoodle in for a last minute visit and it was so crucial to her health that they did. The dr’a are kind and so good at what they do. I cannot recommend this place enough 💕.
I thought I was going to have to euthanize my fur baby Debramarie, age 11 yrs, due to pyrometra. Cost to do surgery is very expensive, $10,000+. But the first dr, Dr Lau my first angel, from Sage Vet Hospital, could see i was very distraught. She started checking with other doctors' that could and would do surgery at a very heavily discounted rate. Enter Dr. Madden my second angel, from Animal Care Hospital. Dr. Madden truly discounted heavily her rates, so I could afford to save my fur baby's life. Dr. Madden did surgery on her and her teams time. In addition to surgery she had students in training do dental work with her supervision, at no cost. I thank God these 2 doctors and their team came into my and Debramarie's life. I am so thankful for God putting them in my path and guiding them to me! Whatever life she has left, I WILL ALWAYS be thankful to and for these very loving and giving people. 🥰🥰🥰 Debramarie is the white and Maddielynn is the black.
My cat was itching like crazy and I was given the soonest appointment. The doctor was kind and knowledgeable. Recommended treatment worked perfectly and my cat had a nice calm night. Office staff is friendly and make a great impression for first timers.
This place is the best. The Dutch doors and open rooms are a testament to the commitment they have made to make this place feel approachable and friendly to our furry family members. All of the techs are incredible and empathetic. All of the doctors are top notch and take the time you need to speak with them, I’ve never felt rushed. Shout out to Dr. Maag, he is truly amazing.
