We brought our 16-year-old dog, BamBam, in for an emergency when he suddenly began losing his balance and falling over, which was incredibly frightening for us. The entire team, from the receptionist to the technicians and veterinarian, treated us with kindness and compassion right away. Dr. Sucheki was calm, gentle, and reassuring, and explained that BamBam was likely experiencing vestibular disease, which can happen in older dogs. He recommended a simple, cost-effective treatment plan instead of unnecessary testing, prescribed medication for the dizziness, and told us BamBam should improve within about 48 hours and he was absolutely right. BamBam is now walking much better and is clearly more comfortable. Dr Ryan Sucheki and the team treated BamBam and us with such kindness during a scary moment, which made all the difference. He had a calm, compassionate approach to caring for a senior dog and reassured us without ever making us feel like his age meant we should expect the worst. The whole visit was efficient, we were able to bring him home the same day, and the team even kindly answered a follow-up question we had the next day by phone call. We are incredibly grateful for the thoughtful, honest, and compassionate care our dog received.
I had to bring my dog, Fiona, here yesterday for an emergency visit, and we were seen by one of their emergency veterinarians, Dr. Pasaturo. She was absolutely amazing friendly, caring, and extremely thorough during Fiona’s exam. She took the time to answer all of my questions and made sure I felt comfortable and informed every step of the way. The staff was also wonderful. Sam, the veterinary technician, was incredibly kind, polite, and compassionate. Everyone was very quick with callbacks for any concerns, and the checkout process was fast and smooth, especially considering it was an emergency situation. Of course, I hope I never have to bring Fiona back under emergency circumstances, but if I ever do, I would trust Greater Staten Island Veterinary Services without hesitation. Thank you to the entire team for taking such great care of my girl.
I want to thank everyone at Greater Staten Island Veterinary Services for taking the time and initiative to help me care for my baby cat Boba. From beginning to his discharge from surgery. The continued care and support I get from you has helped me to keep Boba healthy and alive . God bless you all for your hard work and genuine dedication to animals in the community. < br /> < br />Kv Thank you Noel for your support, the reassurance and you response in explaining the entire process to me. The care, support and empathy for both the animals being treated and the people caring for them. This kind of empathy and willingness to help go hand in hand. Thank you for everything!☺️❤️👌
Brought my cat in at 3am Friday morning due to extreme breathing issues due to asthma and I really cannot say enough great things about Catherine Walsh, DVM And the rest of the team! Noelle which is the receptionist supervisor Just walked out and was leaving to go home at 3 AM, but instead she got me in And took my cat and ran to the back with her and stayed extra long to make sure we were OK. Catherine Walsh has been such a pleasure to deal with, The way she Treated me as soon as I walked through that door and the way she treats my cat you can truly see and feel that she does it from her heart And it’s not just her job! They were very honest with how much everything would have cost and gave me their Honest Opinions if they were in my position. It’s not about making money, It’s about saving each and every animal that walks through that door if they can. Thank you 🙏🏻
Do not go here unless you have no other options. My dog got bit by a friends dog on a Sunday and we wanted to go get the wound cleaned because it was swelling. After waiting for over 2 hours, we brought her into see the vet and she completely fear mongered us. They hardly tried to treat her while she was awake and when they went to shave the area where she was bit, they buzzed too close to the wound and our dog got scared. They said they would have to sedate her with opiates to clean her and wanted to charge us over $1000 just to sedate her. They said she might get an infection, her leg might be broken, and that she was in severe pain even though she was expressing no signs of pain. When we said we didn’t want to sedate her they made it seem like we were bad pet owners. They then tried to push pain killers onto us, even though my dog was completely fine. We walked out with a $350 bill after they did absolutely nothing for us except give us amoxicillin that costs over $180. We brought our dog to our vet Monday am and they shaved her no problem. Said she was fine and not to worry. Costed $100.
We had to use this hospital twice. One time when my dog was hurt, and second, at the end of my poor puppy’s life. Each time we went in there, the hospital was clean and spotless. The staff was so lovely and wonderful. They were calm and caring, and so respectful of our circumstances. We cannot say enough good things about this pet hospital. Thank you to the nurses and doctors who cared so much for our dog!!
Our big boi Max hurt his paw and within 24 hours it impacted his ability to get around and he was in pain. We found Greater Staten Island Vet on Google and were so glad they open 24hrs a day and no appointment was needed. The entire team was kind and curteous from the front desk, through discharge. The Vet gave several options for Max's care plan. They were transparent with pricing and we left with everything we needed including medicine, and his head cone. The only thing that was a slight challenge was the wait, however, just like your local Emergency Room, they serve patients in order of urgency and while we were there, a family was losing their fur baby, so we understood. One tiny bit of feedback: it would be nice if you invested in some nice pet portraits on your empty walls.
