Skokie Animal Hospital
Skokie Animal Hospital offers a blend of traditional charm and dedicated care for pets. The facility, while not modernized, is known for its affordable rates and personalized attention. Some visitors appreciate the scenic surroundings and the compassionate service provided by the veterinarians, particularly Dr. Almazan and Dr. Prunsky, who are praised for their expertise and genuine concern for animal well-being.
However, there are mixed reviews regarding the diagnostic accuracy and office management. Completely misdiagnosed my dog. Has no clue on how to give an examination. Was telling me it was the hips and then the spine for 3 weeks in a row. Never referred me to a specialist until I made her. Was neither. It was the left knee originally and her misdiagnosis caused the right knee to fail also. Bilateral ACL tears. Took to a professional surgery center and within 5 minutes of an exam with no imaging of any kind it was determined that the problem was the Knees. This Vet is money hungry. Every time I would take my dogs to her it was a different price for the same exam. I pulled all 3 dogs from her practice and she wouldn’t do me the courtesy of filling my one dogs script until I was able to get into see another vet.any decent person would have filled that script and apologized profusely for such a mistake on a diagnosis that cost me over $11k. Family was going to her for over 40 years. Argues about everything and knows nothing. The office is from the 1950’s. No computers. Everything hand written on note cards that are not legible. She needs to retire or go back to school to learn how to properly care for animals and run a business in modern times. The only thing she can do is give vaccination shots. Her and that office is equipped to do nothing else. Stay away from this VET.
I’ve never been here… I drove by while visiting and was absolutely amazed by the corner surrounded in sunflowers swaying in the wind, it was such a beautiful sight in the late afternoon. I wouldn’t doubt that they are lovely people caring for your babies.
Dr Lin is the best vet we’ve ever had. Highly skilled with French Bulldogs. They have always taken care of our precious Addy.
Been taking my dogs here for more than 10 years. Dr. Almazan and Dr. Prunsky are terrific! Cannot stress enough how great they are. You can tell they really know and love what they do and that they really care about the animals and the people they come and see. And the fact that they don’t price gouge, don’t hurry you out the door, and really take the time to listen and respond to your concerns are even bigger rarities. I was recommended to them by my sister and have been recommending them to everyone I know looking for great vets ever since. My other two senior babies have crossed the rainbow bridge and have one left. Just yesterday, they saved my only remaining "senior baby" (he’s 16+) from a situation that could have likely turned into him being put down prematurely. They have been really instrumental in giving my dogs as long and as healthy lives as possible. Thanks so much for everything you do!
I have been coming to this place with my dog for about 4 years now. It was referred to me by a friend and I am so so happy that we started coming here. Their service is exceptional.
I have been going here for years, primarily for the reasonable rates, and my sister in law for years before me, because she loved the veterinarians and the old fashioned kind of charming facility. Yes they are not the latest in automation, but I would definitely not judge them by that. Better to look at the flowers out front, and the care they show the animals (as well as their rates). They are very good. In September 2024 I brought in my withering male cat Sam, and Dr. Almazon gave him a thorough examination with a detailed diagnosis. He also was patient, seemed to sincerely care about me and my cat. As a bonus, his exam fee was very reasonable. Be advised, no credit cards.
I love this place. The vet here is really patient with my dogs and it was the first time my dogs weren't going nuts about a vet touching them. He lets you stay with your dog while he examines him/her. He will give you his opinion and options about what needs to be done. He will do his best to make sure the absolutely necessary is done without killing your wallet. I definitely recommend him to anyone who wants a kind vet who will give you the best information and treatment possible.
