Alum Rock Animal Hospital
📍 Cat veterinarians in San Jose
Address is a veterinary clinic that offers services for cats in the United States. While the staff is generally friendly, there have been notable issues with the quality of care. Some visitors have reported concerns about the competence of the medical team, particularly regarding routine procedures and prescription management. The clinic's environment, including the holding rooms, has also been noted for its less than pleasant atmosphere.

I brought my dog in for a urinary issue and requested a routine nail trim. The staff "quicked" his nails so badly that he was bleeding and required a bandage. Worse, the bandage was applied so tight it acted as a tourniquet, causing my dog extreme pain. A dog who is normally gentle began snapping and biting at me purely because of the agony that this "professional" clinic put him in. I paid nearly $500 for care that resulted in a traumatized, injured animal and a dangerous medical situation at home. If you value your pet’s safety, stay away. This level of incompetence is unacceptable. They didn’t even apologize and just asked me to "remove the bandage in 2 hours, he’s fine.".
Go to Telavet for prescription! Photos enclosed …this place has Horrible service . My dog has been on Proin 74 mg ( yes 74 ) for a year . ( loose blaster random diluted pee problem after being spaded) well Dr here gives me a script for only 50 mg while they examine her pee test . Well they now refused my prescription ( ordered through Chewy ) and want us to take blood tests. If it’s not broken why fix it ? O ya , more money in there pocket while I clean my poor puppies pee off the floor now . The staff is nice , the Dr will rip you from. And retract prescriptions at the cost of your pets health and quality of life. And all the holding rooms stink horribly fyi . Photo of prescription they retracted .and photo of prescription I got through Televet’s ( only $65 for a visit) o ya they gave my dog a penicillin shot for no reason I just found out from the other vet because we looked over my bill. Be careful Dr. Beth and his manipulative ways of gouging you for money.
This vet i feel is just after money. My cat was very sick , thought it was a tooth. Told them. They just gave me antibiotics and "special" food. did not examine to make sure. Just wanted me to take blood work and exrays. Told me they would get back within 72 hours. A week went by, no call. Had to take him back, and they told me he had an ulcer i had to put him down. This vet clinic is not a spot I would take any of my pets again. Thank you for reading
Our pets have been patients for a number of years. We love the attention they receive. I have to give a shout out to Ali. He is so sweet and gentle with the pets and very knowledgeable. I appreciate that they don't push unnecessary products or treatments on you. Thank you to all the wonderful staff.
1/5 for the doctor. 5/5 for most of the vet techs such as Ali and another girl (I forgot her name) who's always kind enough to help when needed with my difficult/reactive dog. I've taken my pets (3 cats and 1 dog) to a new vet and informed him of all the things that this vet told me and he basically explained that they were misdiagnosed after examining them. I spent thousands of dollars here on unnecessary tests/medications and regret doing so. The doctor can be rude/arrogant at times and can be heard yelling at other people. Although their cheaper pricing can be tempting, look elsewhere or get a second opinion at least. Most of their vet techs are kind though.
Very unprofessional and rude secretary, I had walked in and waited to get attended by the window since there was no line. The girls were having conversation about another client, which granted I would have let them finish but a fellow coworker of hers told her "Hey you have clients at the window". With that the secretary goes on to say, "So? They just walked in, they can wait". I don't believe you should say stuff like that in front of paying customers, especially given I didn't rush you to attend me. 😬😬😬
I helped my neighbors out by taking their pregnant dog there because she wasn't feeling so well. I waited outside until they had a room ready (this was their Covid protocol.) When they were ready they called me and we went in. I found the staff to be very warm and endearing. They took my doggie friend to the back, did an exam, and an xray. I waited in the dog waiting room. She returned with my doggie friend and the verdict. She was expecting 5 pups and her symptoms were consistent with pregnancy. The fee was pretty much what I thought it would be. We were on our way within 45 minutes. I recommend this place for your animals needs.
