I highly reccomend Dr Courtney Maret. My dog has previous vet trauma and is VERY fearful during exams and treatment. She was kind, understanding and knowledgeable. She had patience with my dog and modified when needed to make it a better experience while still getting through necessary treatment. I’m not sure our techs name but she was so sweet and did a great job as well. I’m so grateful to find someone who I can trust to alleviate stress when coming to the vet.
I came in for a nail trim for my dog who HATES nail trims. I have tried for years to do it myself but can’t. I was embarrassed to come in only for a nail trim but the techs were amazing! They took their time to make sure my baby wasn’t too stressed. I am so grateful for them and will be coming back. I wish I remembered their names! 3 female vet assistants helped me.
Everyone treated us great and got my amazing senior Luna back to running. Elizabeth is such an amazing manager who keeps the hospital great. Lizzie an amazing receptionist who made us feel with confidence that Luna was going to be great. Overall, every worker is very talented and great at the job. The vet is great at elaborating everything. It is an hour away, but definitely worth it. Thank you 🥰
I am so thankful for Dr. Darnell. She is THE BEST. I had previously mentioned to two vets that I believe my cat had serious teeth issues. Both other vets did an oral exam, saw nothing visibly wrong and told me she just needed her teeth cleaned. Dr. Darnell actually listened to my concerns, did x-rays and found major internal cavities that were inside her teeth (not visible when doing a regular exam) that could eventually lead to bone infection and massive bone loss. Turns out my baby also suffers from severe juvenile periodontitis. I am beyond thankful to Dr. Darnell for being such an incredible vet and wonderful person. I would not take my fur babies anywhere else. So, if you're looking for a vet who is talented at what she does, and is passionate about genuinely caring for our fur babies, go see Dr. Darnell of Shelter Island Vet Hospital. You will be very glad you did.
I had a great experience at this vet. I was on the hunt for a new vet clinic for my baby because of a bad experience at another vet. The lobby was welcoming and inviting and I was put into a room very quickly by the vet staff. My baby was seen by Dr. Durr for a skin infection. He was very thorough with his exam. The vet assistant kept my baby calm throughout the exam. I will definitely be returning to this location for care. Thank you shelter island!
We had a really great experience here today with our new puppy Melon. I don’t know if our vets name is Dr. Pearson or if that was his first name but he was super friendly and encouraging as a first time dog mom. I really appreciated how understanding everyone was of all of my questions! Abby the vet assistant was great with both our dog and my kids! Thank you ☺️
The doctors at Shelter Island veterinary hospital are fantastic. I find them fairly priced and very accommodating. This is my third pet. I’ve have taking there. Will continue to use them as my veterinarian!
