The compassion and care of the staff is something I’ll never forget. My pup had been a little lethargic the day before our trip to Heart of Texas, but had gone downhill quickly overnight. From the moment we arrived, the staff was attentive and did all they could to ensure Clifford was comfortable throughout his time with them. I sincerely appreciate the veterinarian’s candor as he discussed possible diagnoses and prognoses. In the end, I made the difficult decision to allow my sweet boy to cross over peacefully. The staff was so kind and supportive of my family and they treated Clifford with love and tenderness. I am grateful to all of the staff who helped us.

My little Chihuahua was in severe distress and heart of Texas staff responded very quickly and began treatment right away. They explained everything in great detail and answered all of our questions. They knew how upset I was and was extremely helpful during this time. My fur baby ended up staying the night at the clinic so they could administer the medication and observe her throughout the night. I was able to pick her up at 7 AM and checking out was very quick. I also appreciate that. They have reached out twice to check on her and they seem to truly care. I would highly recommend Heart of Texas animal clinic for any procedures and testing on your pet. They are truly amazing. I also had brought my Chihuahua Taj Mahal to heart of Texas about eight years ago and they were also amazing with her.

Making the decision to take your pet to an emergency vet is never fun. But sometimes it just has to happen. Although our visit on Friday, February 26, wasn't strictly an emergency, we didn't want to wait for it to become one, so we loaded up and made the trip. First off, I have to say the entire staff at Heart of Texas is friendly, caring, attentive, and knowledgeable in general. The Vet Tech who attended us (Hi, Max!) was awesome: he went over everything 2 or 3 times if needed so I could understand what was happening, what results were, and what the after care would be. He also held my dog (Lucy says "hi", too, Max!) gently and treated her like she was his own pet. That in itself is worth the trip. I guess the only "negatives" I can think of are that, despite Dr. Morris' and Max's explanations and discussions of the tests, the results, possible additional treatments, and follow up care, it was a little confusing and a bit overwhelming. I'm pretty sure most of that can be attributed to my state of mind at the time, not the Dr. or the Tech. Also, obviously, the cost associated with tests and treatments at Heart of Texas, as with most emergency/specialty hospitals, is quite high. But again, that's to be expected. The point of my review is, if you must take your pet to an emergency or specialty care facility, I recommend Heart of Texas in Round Rock whole heartedly.

Can’t say enough good things about Heart of Texas, the experience was night and day over Central Texas Animal Hospital. Originally visited at their old location. TL;DR- amazing staff, and their pet comfort first policy makes even the most uncomfortable visits bearable. My situation was a bit unusual, I had to have my boy Darby transferred to Heart of Texas due to negligence and lack of care at Central Texas. Heart of Texas went above and beyond once they heard what had happened. From the receptionist I spoke with initially, to the vet techs who explained the general updates, and the vet that did Darby’s intake on arrival, everyone was amazing. I was able to bring my boy over and he made a full recovery under their care, and of course had them all wrapped around his paw after a day. They even allowed us to bring his favorite toy for his stay, and allowed me to bring his brother in when I picked up Darby to take him home. Over a year later with no relapse or regression, I can say for sure we wouldn’t be here without Heart of Texas.

My dog was having a heart issue that happened unexpectedly Sunday without any other warning signs prior, we did not know anything could be really wrong since she had always been up to date with visits. They whisked my dog away from me as soon as I got there and did not let me see her for the last 3 hours of her life until I signed paperwork to pay over $1000, which seemed like an excessive amount of time to wait for answers. During that 3 hours my chihuahua was sitting in a freezing cold oxygen box they would not even let me be within sight of her during that time or be near the box. When they finally let me back to see her I had to advocate for them to put a blanket on her. Then the vet (Hosapple) who I would expect to be more seasoned to know how to speak with patients, tried to tell me it would be selfish for me to take her home. I know my dog and she doesn’t want to be alone, she wants to be touching someone snuggling or on someone’s lap. It would have been more professional and mature to say to a patient what they may have to visualize or what may physically happen if I did take her home in her last hours rather than try to call it "selfish" for me wanting to give her loyal loving company and support in her last hours away from a cold box without anyone she recognizes near her. Then the vet had the nerve to tell me it was selfless for me to do euthanasia that day for an additional $800 as if her opinion mattered a lick after calling me selfish. Leslie Holsapple, DVM: I don’t have any respect for your professionalism or competence, having to send out a 2D image to a radiologist that you should be trained to interpret at $250, and it was never anything that you said that helped me consider putting her down peacefully while I was there. Fortunately I have friends that could describe the type of last moments we would likely encounter in order for me to make an informed decision about how to handle this very sudden and complicated situation. I won’t ever go here again. Picture for my perfect angel baby Gracey’s memory so you won’t be able to forget her life, which we thought we had much more time to share - 4 days before her 13th birthday. Never knew a stranger, lover of everyone and a lap, see you on the other side my sweet girl xo 😭

This is a review for Dr Markay NYQUIST veterinary dental specialist who is beyond the kindest most competent lovely human. My 2 kitties needed dentals and I was a bit apprehensive regarding anesthesia given their hypertrophic cardiomyopathy that made them ineligible for mobile cleanings. My friends kitty who is older with several health issues saw Dr Nyquist and had exceptional care. I was hesitant but everyone from her fromt desk staff to techs made me feel very comfortable. The space is open clean and has nice snacks. The little touches make a difference. We had an initial visit and Dr Nyquist was very compassionate and clearly highly knowledgeable. We made sure the babies were medically optimized. As a physician I appreciate her attention to detail. At the actual procedure I was called many times with updates. I know theyre super busy but this kindness goes a long way when youre worried abt your sweet innocent bebes. They did well and she took extra care with the extractions and explained every finding in detail. The after care instructions were very clear. They even called the next day to check on us and the kitties did SO well. I would definitely recommend seeing a veterinary dental specialist as it makes a huge difference. This is the kind of care youd receive at a big univeristy vet hospital - Dr Nyquist is very skilled and we are lucky to have her here! Thank you ALL again!

I don't even know where to begin. The whole staff on the Emergency side was fantastic. We took our dachshund in because he got into a large amount of his allergy medication and as soon as we arrived a tech was waiting and took Jake back to get started on treating him. I know this is what saved us from a more serious outcome. We had Dr. Mikula for our intake and release and the compassion and love he showed made this process a little less stressful. Dr. Mikula was straight forward but also gave us so much hope as well. I wish every Veterinarian was as kind and loving as him. He was so knowledgable and really showed care for our boy. Even when Dr. Mikula was not there, he checked in to see how Jake was doing. We also had Dr. Kayla as the daytime Vet and she loved on our guy the whole time he was in the ER. She was so sweet, caring and really took the time to explain things to me. It was really hard not having our boy home for 2 days, but there was some relief knowing he was in good hands with the staff at Heart of Texas. They call you with updates, and are so sweet when you call in as well just to check in. If I didn't already have a primary Vet that I love, I would be tracking down Dr. Mikula and Dr. Kayla to see if that take patients outside of the ER. We have our boy home now, he is resting, and getting lots of cuddles. Thank you again Heart of Texas for taking such good care of our baby.
