Absolutely nothing but the best for Cedar River Animal Hospital. After 5 years I knew every time Captain had an appointment he would get the best care. Captain wasn’t the easiest patient, but every time they found a way to make him as comfortable as possible. The entire staff is incredible but I do have to single out Captain’s doctor, Dr. Herron. Nothing but trust, clear communication, knowledge and kindness. Captain, at 11 years old, recently had a chronic emergency where ultimately I had to make the decision of quality of life. I can’t thank the staff enough. From all the knowledge and every choice laid out, to the kindness and love everyone showed. I can’t recommend them enough and you all will most definitely be my first call in the near future when Captain guides me to another best friend.

Cedar River has been my primary vet office for the last few years and they have been absolutely amazing to my pets and to me. Their staff is caring, accommodating, and compassionate. They know when things need to be referred out to specialists and what things can be handled in house. We will be using them again for any other pets we may obtain.

Went to get my cat’s nipples checked today. They look and feel weird. The vet felt them, but didn’t even look at them. He suggested to do further testing on one lump, but also said it was going to be pricey and results were not guaranteed. So I asked him, what he would do, to which he replied he couldn’t tell, because he just met me. I was looking for an expert’s recommendation like "your cat could have cancer, these kind of lumps have a 80% risk of being cancerous. If that’s the case you’re looking at going through chemo and surgery, which will cost between xxx and xxx, survival rate is about xxx. Anything that can help me evaluate if I need to do further testing. All he said was, it is better to find cancer early and it’s up to me how big a concern it is. I’ve read cats can get clogged pores in their nipples, so I would think it would be logical to at least look at the nipples? It was a complete waste of time and money. I was also told my cat will be required a rabies vaccine before any further treatment can continue.

My first visit was with Dr. Aluas for my senior GSP. He was so kind and patient explaining what to expect and options for his best senior years. Dr. Aluas even went the extra mile to find the cheapest place to buy asthma medication for my dog's last year. Then, I started the journey with a puppy and a rescue from Mexico. All the vets and staff have been so lovely! They are all kind, patient, willing to explain, and offer helpful advice. I wouldn't go anywhere else for my babies.

Brittany and Dr. Aluas are godsends! The last week of April, our 5year old Siamese-Tabby dislocated her left hip. After the emergency vet was unable to get her hip reset without it popping back out, we were ultimately faced with surgery as our only option. Keeping her heavily sedated every 3 hours was hard to do and to watch. After calling 9 different clinics all saying they wouldn't be able to get her in until June, Brittany made magic happen! We got our kitty into the clinic 4 days later and during surgery setup, Dr. Aluas was feeling around the joint and it popped back in solidly! He kept her for observation for a few hours and sent us home with medication to keep her sedated enough that she didn't hurt herself while her soft tissue settled and healed. I love that he didn't want to do the surgery and was able to get her in so quickly. You and your team are amazing!!!!!

We cannot say enough good things about this veterinary clinic and their entire team. They took exceptional care of our sweet girl after she tore her ACL and needed TPLO/TTA surgery. From the very beginning, we felt informed, supported, and genuinely cared for. Nurse Nina went above and beyond and surprised us with the sweetest custom bandage, which honestly meant more to us than she probably realized. The entire team came out to greet our girl, showered her with love, and made sure we left feeling confident about her recovery plan. For anyone preparing for this surgery: they walked us through the healing process clearly and realistically—strict rest at first, gradual leash walks, pain management, and what signs to watch for during recovery. Knowing what was normal (swelling, slower movement early on, probably won’t eat or potty for the first 24 hours, gradual improvement week by week) helped ease so much anxiety. They were always available to answer questions and never made us feel silly for checking in. On top of all that, their pricing was significantly more affordable—about half the cost of BluePearl and Bellevue Veterinary and they accept CareCredit. If your dog needs orthopedic surgery and you’re scared, overwhelmed, or unsure where to go: this is the place. Compassionate, thorough, skilled, and truly invested in both pets and their people. We’re incredibly grateful and couldn’t be happier with our experience!!
