I cannot thank the team at VCA Animal Medical Center enough for how they handled a high-stress situation today. I brought my senior cat in after she started showing signs of respiratory distress (panting and pacing), and as a pet owner, I was absolutely spiraling. From the moment I walked in, the staff was incredibly kind, patient, and professional. They didn't just treat my cat; they took care of me, too. They recognized the urgency of the situation, performed a thorough emergency triage, and provided the reassurance I needed to keep my own heart rate down. It turns out my girl was just reacting to a recent food change, but they treated her with the same level of care and precision as a major emergency. If you are looking for a veterinarian in Omaha that actually listens and treats your pets like family, this is the place. They are the "Gold Standard" for compassionate animal care. Highest recommendation.
I had to say goodbye to my best friend, Louie, after 16 years in December of 2024. This specific VCA had taken care of him his entire life. When I made the appointment to say goodbye, all the staff was so kind and understanding. I had never done anything like this before and they were such good guides. We talked about and handled everything before the appointment. This was so important because after, I essentially exited through a back door. I didn't really think about it (but thankfully they did) because I was in a bit of a state. My exit was immediate and discreet. They helped me to give Louie a good life and when it was time, and helped him pass with dignity and respect. When I received his ashes, there were cards from both his VCA staff and the Nebraska Humane Society sending their condolences. I cannot thank the staff there enough. They were always so kind and treated Louie as if he was their own--I could honestly tell they loved him, too.
Caution: extremely high prices They charged between $500-900/per hour (depending which part of the process you refer to on the billing statement). This is a free market and we vote with our feet. Don’t be like me. Call 3-4 vets before booking any appointment and get prices upfront.
Extremely clean. Extremely responsive. Extremely compassionate. They healed all of us on a terrible night.
Somehow five "stars" doesn't really cover how wonderful this place is, and the people who work there, particularly Dr. Sherrill. She cared for our two dogs, Ellie and Zoe, for the better part of two decades. And to say she did so with warmth and compassion would be a mighty understatement. I think back to the time when my young daughter came with to a yearly exam, and Dr. Sherrill lent her stethoscope and taught her to listen for Zoe's heartbeat. My daughter still talks about it years later. Dogs are family, and whatever higher power exists, I am thankful they gave us veterinarians like Dr. Sherrill to care for ours.
I do not have any words other than "thank you". Thank you all at VCA for being so comforting and hospitable when I came in to bring my 17 year old cat to Heaven. This is not my normal vet, but my regular vet was unable to get Ocean in. VCA was more than accommodating in a last minute situation. Special shout out to Sharon Mix, she put my mind to ease and treated Ocean like she would her own. 1000000/10
Dr Mix is an exceptional vet who treats all my animals as if they were her own. She cares about both me and all my creatures and you can tell! The techs and front desk staff are equally wonderful and it's like visiting close friends every time we go in. My animals past and present have always enjoyed going to the vet [I'm definitely lucky there] no matter where we've lived in the country. That said, there is definitely extra excitement when we pull into the parking lot here. Even when ill, there is a visible perk up when my creatures realize where we are. I think that reaction more than anything else shows what a fantastic vet center this place is. The hospital genuinely cares about how the animals are doing, remembers all their individual quirks and stories, has compassion and empathy for their patients, and bends over backward to provide excellent service and care. I could not ask for a better vet and am bummed we are moving states, so won't be able to visit any longer.
