We have been talking our digs here since day one after researching local vets. Available to milliary, this vet is great to deal with. The cost is lower than vets in town, and they take our USAA pet insurance. The staff are easy to deal with and are willing to work with you if you can't exactly meet the appointment time. Lab results that weren't required to be sent to another facility came back 2 hours after they were collected, which was amazing.
Very disappointed with the front desk staff as we waited to see the vet. One of the ladies was trying to help a young man with his dog. To get him scheduled .yo hear her say she going to have to cancel someone appointment to get him in was wrong To hear her call another person and tell them that they over.Booked and had to reschedule her vet appointment so this young man could bring his dog in on Thursday in that person spot was very dis honest the vet and the vet assistant was very nice but the front desk left a bad impression
I am very disappointed with the naval base vet. I would honestly say DON’T WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY. Came here with my dog to get him vaccinated and checked as he is a new member to the family. First of all they expect you to email them when you want an appointment they never want to help on the phone. The most disappointing part was they don't seem to care for their patients. My dog was having allergies in his eyes i took him twice to them and they were not able to tell me that when the Dr saw him she did not even notice anything was wrong or give me an ointment that he needed come to find out when i took him later to Cooke Veterinary that i HIGHLY Recommend. The vet there explained everything to me in detail i am just disappointed and honestly it’s better to go somewhere where they actually care about your fur babies.
The doctor was amazing with my cat. Very efficient check in and visit for overseas travel with a cat. The whole staff was friendly and knowledgeable. Sidebar: if you're afraid of dogs like I am, there is no way to avoid them. Maybe let the staff know ahead of time so they can separate you from the dogs.
The service is ok. Always full of booking. You have to call and check which days they are available to schedule.
We have been taking our kitties to the Norfolk Naval Station Vet clinic for a few years now. We started with Pharaoh and Nefertiti and then added Bastet and now Rowdy goes. They took fantastic care of Pharaoh as he aged, got super sick with kidney problems and eventually he crossed the rainbow bridge. They are super helpful with Nefertiti who is a strange eater (she hurls a lot of her food up because she eats to fast) so they work with us so well. When Bastet had a UTI they got her in immediately and taken care of and on the right medication quickly to get her feeling better. Dr. G is the BEST she remembers our kitties and their quirks and personalities. She cares about our kitties as if they are her own as well. Rowdy had his first visit a couple weeks ago because he kept sneezing and had watery eyes and she quickly let me know he had a lil URI and would be AOK in a couple of days. HE WAS!!! She also quickly fell in love with him too. Drm G. Is so awesome she takes her time with each pet and lets you know exactly how they are doing and feeling. If you are military/veteran definitely use the benefit of your on base vet clinic!!!
I absolutely LOVE Dr. Edson!!! She is wonderful, caring and you can tell she ABSOLUTELY LOVES her job. She even called me after hours to check on one of my babies. The vet techs there are very caring and sweet! You can also tell they love what they do. In saying all that... it is IMPOSSIBLE to get through to the vet when you call. You are AUTOMATICLY sent to voice mail no matter the time you call. Rarely get return phone calls unless it's urgent etc. I have gotten to the point where I have given up in calling and leaving messages, but rather just email the clinic directly and put attn to the vet I need to speak to. The front desk had decided to screen what was needed and I wasn't getting what I needed. For an appointment, I have had to just email them for that as well. It is BEYOND frustrating!!!! The front desk is also EXTREMELY rude. So be prepared when you go in.
