Evergreen Avian and Exotic Animal Hospital

In my 40 years of owning birds, I have found Dr. Boutette at Evergreen Avian to be one of the most exceptional vets in the field. He is incredibly knowledgeable and relies on a strong scientific foundation, yet maintains a very gentle touch. During an annual exam a few weeks ago for my 10-year-old female Dusky Conure, Poco, I appreciated that I could stay in the room during the exam. Dr. Boutette explained how testing methods have become more targeted recently to better serve each bird's specific needs. I was especially impressed by their stress-reduction techniques. For example, rather than overhandling her, they weighed the empty carrier and then at the end of the exam, when she was returned to the carrier, they calculated her weight. The Kirkland facility is spotless, and the entire team -- from the receptionist to the vet tech -- is kind, professional, and clearly passionate about avian care. Poco came home happy and relaxed, which is the best outcome possible. Three weeks have passed since her exam and she continues to thrive. I highly recommend Dr. Boutette and Evergreen Avian.

I highly recommend taking your hamster to Evergreen Animal Hospital. I always had a very pleasant experience here when I visited regarding issues with my hamster, including when my partner and I had to put him down... I really appreciated feeling that the doctors, techs, and the entire team were all genuinely small animal people and are passionate about their work. They not only helped with the practical side of caring your your pet, but also the emotional aspects during the end of life. Thank you all for all of your help.

I’m incredibly grateful to Dr. Parra and the veterinary assistant Amy for the care they provided to my bunny, Coco. After a very stressful experience trying to figure out what was wrong, I came to this clinic and immediately felt heard. I explained Coco’s symptoms—loss of appetite, unusual stool, and abnormal gut sounds—and Dr. Parra took the time to really listen and focus on his tummy issues right away. Instead of putting him through more repeated testing, she used her clinical judgment and started treatment immediately. What stood out most was how attentive, knowledgeable, and encouraging both Dr. Parra and Amy were. Amy patiently showed me how to properly feed Coco and made sure I felt confident doing it on my own, and Dr.Parra gave Coco a first dosage of medicine to ease my work. That level of care and compassion made a huge difference during a very overwhelming time. Thanks to their help, Coco began slowly improving, and I finally felt like I had a clear direction on how to care for him. I truly appreciate their dedication, positivity, and willingness to listen. Highly recommend this team to anyone looking for a vet who genuinely cares about both pets and their owners.

We've been taking our rabbits to this clinic for over 10 years and are very happy with the care they receive. Dr. Holford went above and beyond for our elderly bun, and was extremely compassionate.

I have been coming here for a couple years now, and every time all of the staff are so welcoming and informative. We recently saw Dr. Thomson and she was very quick to answer questions, and made sure to triple check everything for us! We always love seeing Amy as well, as she is so loving whenever she needs to help pick up my bunny or calm him down!

I can't recommend this place enough. My hedgehog Sammy unexpectedly had some health issues, and I was able to get a next day appointment here. The level of care and compassion for my pet and myself went way beyond what I expected. I wish I could bring my cats here, too! The cost was surprisingly very affordable too. My hedgie had several different tests done and even some imaging. I left with 3 different medications for him, and it was only about $400!!! We have a follow-up exam in 2 weeks, and I'm looking forward to it. Thank you all so much for helping my Sammy get better!! *Update: Sammy, unfortunately, ended up crossing the rainbow bridge a few weeks later and the office sent me the sweetest sympathy card. They are truly so kind and actually care about their patients (human and animal) **Update 2: Apparently, I am a hedgehog rescue now because 2 other rescue hogs have found their way to me. They will both be getting all their future care with Evergreen Avian and Exotic!

UPDATE: Dr. Carter reached out and corrected the situation. The charge was removed. I have been a customer with Evergreen Avian and Exotic for a year now, and prior to my recent visit I have had a great experience. On the 12/31, I went in to have my rabbits foot examined. X-rays were taken and it was decided that he needed a cast for the next month, to allow his fractured leg to heal. His bandaging alone was $91, overall the visit was over $500. Within 12 hours his whole cast had fallen off, even though it is supposed to be on for the next month. I emailed them the next morning, but due to the holiday they responded on 1/2. They called and asked me bring him back in at 2pm to put on the cast again. When I arrived I asked the front desk if I would be charged for this visit since his cast had fallen off. She said no not at all, the paperwork was just for their records. A few minutes later the vet came out and even confirmed that it was not high enough on his leg after seeing the first cast. She took him back, put a new cast on and then brought him back out and said you're good to go all within 10 minutes. This morning I received a call from Cassandra stating that I left without paying my bill. I explained to her that when I spoke to the woman yesterday she informed me that I would not be charged given that it was an error of them attaching the cast. Cassandra admitted that it was their mistake, but I would still need to pay a now $130 bill. The cost does not even make sense considering it was $91 two days before. Just one display after another of operational incompetence. Be warned, they don't take responsibility for their own mistakes, they are just looking for ways to nickel and dime you.
