Steel City Emergency Vets

I don’t even have the words to fully express how thankful we are for Steel City Emergency Vet. Our sweet GSP, Dutton, was bitten by a rattlesnake, and we rushed him in terrified. Their team immediately jumped into action. They were calm, reassuring, and so kind to both us and Dutton. In such a stressful and emotional moment, they gave us peace knowing he was in the best hands. They treated him like family, and that means everything to us. We are so grateful for their skill, their compassion, and the care they provided. Thank you for helping save our boy. ❤️🐾

My little princess Poppy swallowed something And could not hold down food or water and for 2 days we went back and forth to Banfield with no improvements so we decided to bring her to Steel City ER Vet in Hoover. Like many others that have posted about their experience with this company the first estimates were definitely sky high. But I do have to say they listed to us in regards to it being to high and after some discussions we came up with a plan and a better estimate. I am more than grateful that it did not cost us every single penny that we had. Poppy’s surgery was successful. She is stable and should recover well. A very BIG THANK YOU to Steel City Vet for saving her life. She means the world to me. Poppy is a rescue dog and I want her to have the best life possible. Thank You again!

They did a great job taking care of our 1.5 yr old Maltese/Pug mix with severe pancreatitis. They were very thorough in examining her and starting her treatment promptly. At-home care and follow-up instructions were clearly explained. The staff seemed very knowledgeable and caring.

This vet saved our 6 year old GSP Birdie's life. After having gone to our primary vet, as well as a few others, for severe stomach issues Birdie was having and getting incorrect assessments and ineffective treatment, we took her here as a last gasp and thought we were going to lose her. We went as far as saying our goodbyes to her while we waited to talk to Dr. Carlo. However, he was able to stabilize her (which no other vet was effective in), operate on her, called me throughout the night providing me updates, and now we are bringing her home 36 hours later. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful and Dr. Carlo is a miracle worker. They gave Birdie the best care I could possibly imagine - and I know others who have had their pets saved by this vet. Could not recommend them enough, thank you all so much!!!

My cat Rue stopped eating and had diarrhea, so we went to Steel City Emergency Vets. We were able to get Rue into an exam room within minutes. Every staff member we interacted with was incredibly kind and helpful. They kept me informed throughout the visit and I left with detailed instructions on how to care for Rue when we got home. Special shout-out to Dr. Jacobi for taking the time to explain everything she wanted to investigate and what she found. Rue is recovering nicely. I do not hesitate to recommend Steel City to everyone with a pet emergency. This is my second visit there and I experienced the same level of care both times.

Can’t say enough about Steel City Emergency vets and Dr. Carlo. We thought we were going to lose our GSP, Birdie, but he told us he thought he could save her and he did. she was on death’s door after an intestinal block from and acorn she had swallowed. All the staff was amazing and so attentive to Birdie and to us! If you have an emergency you need to go there! ❤️

We’ve taken our dachshund Juno here a few times due to her eating things she shouldn’t. This time we woke up to her eating the foam out of her bed. They took her right back and induced vomiting and we were on our way back home with a very sleepy but no longer in danger pup. They’re always quick, nice, and efficient!
