We LOVE the vet here! She is so nice 🩷 She always listens to what you say and she even remembered our other cat Alice and asked how she was when we bought Sherlock in for an ear infection. I hope she doesn’t go anywhere! We have taken our first cat Sherlock to other vets befit coming here and did not have good experiences. I appreciate that the treatment isn’t overpriced. I seriously cannot say enough good things!!!

I have been taking my cat (Hazel) to Humane Society as a first cat parent and they are so nice and kind people. I can’t be more thankful to them for helping me out when I needed an emergency appointment for my cat. I am really grateful towards them and I definitely recommend Humane Society.

We took one our cats here to been seen for a possible nasopharyngeal polyp in our young cats throat. Dr. Harrington was very kind and knowledgeable about the possibilities of what might be causing our cat to sound this way. They were able to get us in for surgery the following day and removed the polyp. It was very affordable for the level of care my cat got. The staff was super nice and I love how VERY upfront they are about their costs. Everything is listed on their website for reference. I will be bringing all of my pets here from now on. SPECIAL THANKS TO OUR TECH JORDAN !!! He was very knowledgeable about the surgery and took pictures for me while my cat was under so I could see what was going on.

I have taken my dog to have his eye checked because it was tearing a lot and had mucus discharge they treated my dog with drops and told me he has an eye ulcer and sometimes these things clear up with just drops. So when the follow up appointment happened we were told that the medication was taken longer and they wanted me to get the eye pressure checked and see if the tint would help them determine his progress and asked to return again for another appointment. I have been wanting to get his teeth cleaned and they said perhaps they can put a lens in his eye if it’s better and get his teeth cleaned while he’s under anesthesia. After a few follow appointments they wanted me to get the teeth cleaned but I wanted to wait until his eye healed completely. It’s now been 5 months and his eye is better so I was looking to get the appointment done for the teeth and the office manager was so rude and disrespectful talking about my voice was elevated when we last spoke because she said all we can do for Teddy is remove his eye! I was like WHAT!?! No one mentioned anything about removing his eye and it’s healing so why would you even say that? Every time I spoke to someone they gave me drops and never did they even mention anything about removing his eye. His eye is better how dare you even go there! So when I went to schedule his cleaning for his teeth they said they can’t schedule me. She was disrespectful and rude. This place was very dirty and my next report is going to the BBB to file a complaint.

I am reviewing to formally express my deep dissatisfaction and concern regarding a recent visit to the Humane Society of the Piedmont, which I believe involved unethical pricing practices and profoundly unprofessional conduct by staff, including the attending veterinarian. At the request of my partner, I brought her dog in for a routine wellness visit and vaccinations. I scheduled the appointment in advance, paid the required $50 deposit, and arrived on time. Upon check-in, I asked the front desk for a cost estimate. I was informed the visit would cost an additional $147—on top of the deposit—for a total of nearly $200. Since I was doing a favor and the dog was not mine, I asked if there were ways to reduce the cost. The front desk clerk suggested omitting the nail trim and speaking with the vet tech about other possible adjustments. Once in the treatment room, I clearly expressed to the vet tech that I wished to reduce the overall cost of the visit and explicitly stated we would skip the nail trim. I emphasized my interest in exploring what else could be deferred or made optional. The vet tech assured me she would discuss this with the veterinarian before proceeding. Approximately 20 minutes later, the vet returned with the dog and casually informed me that everything had already been completed. I was stunned. My repeated, reasonable requests to manage and reduce the costs had been completely disregarded. When I voiced my concern, the vet responded with a dismissive, "I’m sorry you feel ambushed." I corrected her: "I don’t feel ambushed—I was ambushed. This is appalling." I reiterated that I had communicated my cost concerns multiple times and had been ignored. Rather than take responsibility, the vet offered a passive-aggressive reply, implying I wasn’t interested in the dog’s wellbeing. That accusation was not only insulting but completely unfounded, especially considering I agreed to further diagnostic testing for suspected ear infections. What followed was even more unacceptable: After leaving the room with the dog, the vet began speaking loudly to staff in the back, stating—within full earshot—that I was "out of control" and that she had to "repeatedly tell me to calm down." This was an outright lie. I was visibly displeased but remained calm throughout the entire exchange. I had to inform the vet upon her return that I had heard every word. She appeared visibly caught off-guard but did not apologize or attempt to correct her misrepresentation. To add insult to injury, the final bill was well over twice the original quoted amount, with no respect shown for the very clear boundaries I had attempted to set beforehand. This experience was not just disappointing—it was deeply troubling. The pricing felt exploitative, and the behavior of the veterinary staff was condescending, dishonest, and unprofessional. Comparing this visit to a recent appointment for my own dog—who received nearly identical care plus a tumor aspiration for almost $200 less—only confirms how excessive the charges at your facility are. Needless to say, we will never be returning. This kind of treatment erodes public trust and reflects poorly on your entire organization, especially given the perception that Humane Societies operate with compassion and community care in mind. I expect an explanation of how you intend to address this kind of unprofessional behavior from your staff moving forward.
