Customer Reviews
Cat Clinic of Folsom has a rating of 4.6 out of 5 based on over 102 reviews on Google
I called this clinic to have my late mother’s cat checked after her passing. I was required to pay for the visit in advance, which I accepted. My adult daughter and I brought him in, and once we were placed in the exam room, the cat was left in his carrier for a long time while questions were asked. No one attempted to interact with, comfort, or assess him during this time. After about 25 minutes, the veterinarian finally came in. By then, the cat was understandably stressed and irritated. As soon as he showed any sign of reacting, the appointment was essentially stopped. We were immediately told they could not see him and were handed a quote to sedate him in order to give the vaccine he needed. It felt like there was never a genuine intention to treat him unless he was sedated. No effort was made to calm him or work with him before making that decision. When I questioned this, I was told that this was simply what we paid for—an office visit—despite no actual care being provided. Overall, the experience felt rushed, impersonal, and dismissive, especially given the circumstances surrounding the cat and our family.
They have been great helping my cat. They take very good care of my cat while she was there for observation and testing. All staff have been very friendly and will explain things in a way I could understand and feel great about treatment. I highly recommend.
The Cat Clinic of Folsom has been very dear to me for almost 20 years. Dr. Standen has done surgeries on two of my cats and provided excellent care to all my cats over the years. She and her staff are knowledgeable and empathetic. I highly recommend this clinic!
Great place for your feline family member. FAIR PRICES! I’ve referred friends and they're happy too.. Carolyn Standen, DVM owns this private practice. She is very knowledgeable. **practice utilizes technology** In the past I've been able to text a video of my sick cat for her to view and make recommendations**
This is a wonderful vet specializing in cat care. We recently moved to the area and they were able to see both my cats within a week of scheduling. The pricing was very reasonable and I appreciated how they spaced out the appointment to give attention to my cats.
Update 2025: The quality of care has been declining steadily. Lot of upselling for tests and then very little decisively done with the results. Lots of temperamental and reactivity when questioned. Too much drama, including refusing to treat one of my cats for ringworm, which apparently freaks the vet and staff out. I was told to "take her to your dermatology specialist" which referenced the dermatologist we have for our medical rescue cat. The last straw was my sweet old cat was not taken seriously, just more tests and ultrasounds, with results that clearly (from hindsight) indicated her end was very near, but there was no discussion of this. Just the last guidance being "You can take her to a specialist if you want to continue to help her." Nothing about end of life care, was not even on the table, no compassion, just avoidance. After reviewing the ultrasound results, another vet recommended we prepare for her last days. They were also clearly dismayed this was not discussed with me. We have since found another full service clinic to bring our cats to for care. Original review: Very caring staff, excellent veterinary care, modest prices. They are very accommodating and are up front and clear about what they need to do and why.
I took my six month-old cat here for a check-up and to establish care. He is an extremely social cat and loves people. The vet and vet tech treated him like he was a feral cat. My cat never had an issue with his old vet, and he was freaked out the whole ride home. There are other reviews that suggest that this isn’t a rare occurrence. I would look elsewhere for a more caring and compassionate vet. Two stars because the exam fee was cheaper than I was expecting.
