Recently moved back to Durham and found that our beloved previous vet had moved away. I was concerned that we wouldn't find another vet we trusted as much as her but I needn't have been. Dr Hedges and her team are remarkable. They are great listeners, clearly very invested in doing what's right for each animal they treat. The initial paperwork is the most comprehensive I've ever seen, and I've worked in veterinary reception in the past. I've never felt rushed or dismissed. I highly recommend this practice. Speaking as a former veterinary receptionist, I would like to point out that vet appointments can be very fraught and emotional and owners sometimes don't fully understand what they've been told about their pet's condition(s) and likely outcomes. It can be overwhelming as an owner. Additionally, many owners don't have a good understanding of how veterinary practices/hospitals/billing work, expecting it to be the same as hospitals and medical practices for people. People often have a skewed understanding of costs, in particular, because they have insurance for themselves and seldom, if ever, see the actual full costs for their own medical care. Keep that in mind as you read reviews of any practice.

All the techs and Dr. Hedges are awesome! They got to know my cats and enjoy seeing them! It's always a good experience going in, even during difficult visits. There is a level of trust and confidence coming here. Thanks for that.

If I could give less than a 1 I would, just like someone else posted my dog was misdiagnosed with cancer unfortunately, I allowed this vet to butcher my dog to remove this cancer, and she got an infection and almost died. It was at another animal hospital that I found out she was misdiagnosed never heard from the vet never got an apology. Best of advice I can give you is take your dog cat or animal somewhere else.

I brought my dog to Raleigh Durham vet because he ate an entire rotisserie chicken and was vomiting. Dr.Caires reviewed the plan of care in detail. She reviewed best case and worst case. The staff was understanding and kept me informed throughout the day about my dogs progress and the plan for discharge. My discharge instructions were clear about how to proceed. Due to the excellent care my dog received he was able to pass the blockage without surgery and is now recovered. I would recommend Raleigh Durham Veterinary Hospital.

Do NOT pay attention to any five star review posted here. I brought my dog in for a 3:00 appointment and was basically just brushed off and given some estimate numbers for a price before he even was given blood work. I profusely told the assistant on hand, Ryan, that my dog has had 3 prior seizures before visiting and was told because I was "ineligible" to sign some paperwork there was nothing they could do for him that day. Even though they were told before the appointment I am authorized to sign any paperwork I need to.This place didn't even recommend a medication for him, they told me they didn't think it was necessary. Even after I made it crystal clear my dog has a seizure disorder. Do NOT take your pets here, it's completely obvious they couldn't care less about them. I was also expected to pay almost 400$ just for him to be diagnosed! Take your pets anywhere else, this should be a last resort. There is also nobody to be seen in the lobby when you arrive. If they truly cared you would think there would at least be somebody at the front desk at all times.

Can't say enough great things about the staff at Raleigh Durham veterinary. The care I received for my senior girl from everyone over the years was caring, straightforward, knowledgeable and compassionate. I brought my senior dog here from Banfield and it was by far the best decision I made for her health.
