We've been multiple animal customers of NHAH. We couldn't be more happy at the 20+ years of frequening Dr. Windram's place of work has been a pleasure for us and our pets.
Cannot say enough about the good folks at New Hope Animal Hospital. We have been coming here for years after a less-than-ideal experience at another local vet, and the people here have never let us down. We see Dr. Soren, mainly, but have seen others in the past, and couldn't ask for a better clinical team. From the doctors and nurses to the front desk, it is clear the people here love what they do. I have recommended this place to all of my friends and family.
We’ve been to New Hope since my dog was a little puppy (over 3 yrs now). We have had great care and communication from the entire team including all the techs, staff and doctors (Dr.Beth, Dr. Soren and Dr. Bush). They’ve been very helpful in sending my dog to specialists if he needed that and responsive about all the questions about dog ownership and medical issues that he’s had. They also treat my dog with love and respect and this has helped in making sure he’s not terrified of the vet’s office and he likes the people there.
We recently had to put our elderly dog down, and the staff at New Hope ensured it was a dignified, respectable process. Tech Melanie gave our sweet old girl a bowl of hot chocolate to drink from the break room, and vet Christine was a kind and compassionate soul throughout. She sent a follow up card immediately afterwards, which was such a nice sentiment. Prior to this visit, we had a an appointment for a general check up and to address quality of life and Christine pointed us to some amazing OSU resources to help with the decision and grieving process. During a very bad, not good day, New Hope Animal Hospital was a tiny sliver of light and goodness and helped ensure our family was as taken care of as they could contribute.
The veterinarians are very informative and professional, but also friendly and patient. The same can be said for the technicians, who are always there with a treat and smile. The wait times are never terribly long, even for unannounced visits. My puppy was spayed recently, and they made sure we had everything we needed. They did a great, clean job with the sutures. Every other visit I've made, whether scheduled or a simple tech visit, has been equally pleasant. It's a bit further from our home in Carrboro than other offices, but it's definitely worth the extra time.
We’ve taken several family pets to this practice over the past 10+ years and this continues to be a very special place. My favorite part is that they don’t just love easy cute pets, they also love my hyper vigilant rescue mongrel who goes through an entire jar of peanut butter every visit (and gets about half of it on me, the floor, and anyone in the room). They also nurtured us through saying goodbye to our 14 year old German shepherd a few years ago in a way that was very respectful and showed they really care. They are very transparent with pricing, options for next steps, and we’ve never been made to feel guilty when we say no to something. We will keep coming here until they decide we are just too ridiculous and kick us out.
Sadly, this is not a primary care and urgent care veterinary hospital, despite the Google search and despite the Owner's assurances when we joined the Practice in 2017. With an aging pup (she will be 10 in June 2023), we have had 3 urgent incidents within the past 5.5 months for which we were turned away until 5-6 days later. That is truly enough. When all is well with our precious dog, NHAH is great; otherwise, no. We are moving to a new to us 7-day/week practice that has primary and urgent services. The photo below is from 4/13/2023 when we were denied for 5 days into the next week by NHAH and shuffled off to urgent care, once again. Our dog had a lip abscess that required an antibiotic and an anti-inflammatory; she is recovering well.
