We found Dr. Schawel and South Davis while we were dealing with a husky that had severe epilepsy. The staff was so gracious and kind with our countless visits and questions. That dog has since passed, but we continue to bring our other dogs to South Davis. They maintain amazing bed side manner, thorough explanations, comparisons for treatments and the cost/benefits; and great personal service. Dr. Schawel treats you with respect and is highly knowledgeable about his field. I trust him with my most important loves - my dogs. Highly recommend!

Its my first visit and I found the facilities clean and organized. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable. I was apprised of everything as we went along. They did a good 👍 job during the exam. I felt that they cared about my dogs 🐕 wellbeing and mine as well. I'm so impressed that I'm making South Davis our family veterinarian doctors from now on.

We have not been with this office very long as we recently moved to Davis, but so far I am happy with the services. We have cats and a dog. The staff are welcoming. Dr. Phillips and her techs have been amazing and the orthopedic surgeon they use was also fabulous. Their prices are average to high compared to what I am used to, but I appreciate the extra touches (reminders, follow-up phone calls, ability to text a question). This is the furthest vet in Davis from us, but after some research I'm glad I chose them and I'm sure our fur babies agree. The initial visit deposit may seem frustrating, but it protects their appointment times which I can appreciate as a regular client.

We never expected to hear the words 'your dog has throat cancer,' but South Davis Vet helped us through one of the hardest moments of our lives with kindness and compassion. My mom and I brought our beloved Annabelle in when we noticed she was bleeding while eating and showing troubling symptoms. From the moment we arrived, the front desk staff, vet techs, and veterinarian treated us with warmth, patience, and care. They took Annabelle back to examine her throat, and when they returned, they had to deliver the news no pet parent ever wants to hear—she had severe throat cancer, and it was progressing fast. They didn’t just give us a diagnosis; they guided us through the hardest decision we’ve ever had to make. They spoke with honesty but also with empathy, making sure we understood what was happening while treating Annabelle with the love and dignity she deserved. They introduced us to Beloved Pet Vet, an at-home euthanasia service, and because of their guidance, Annabelle was able to pass away peacefully at home, wrapped in love, on February 17th at 8 p.m. The hardest part of loving a pet is saying goodbye, but South Davis Vet made sure Annabelle’s last days were filled with comfort instead of suffering. For that, we will be forever grateful. Thank you for giving us the gift of a peaceful goodbye❤️

Been taking all my pets here for over a decade. The staff and vets here care as much about my pets as they would their own. Highly recommend this clinic.

South Davis vet is professional, clean, and friendly! I have never been dissatisfied with their quality of care, and often recommend them to anyone in town. Dr. Schawel has been a top-quality doctor for my pets for years and has helped us immensely. I love how much he loves our chihuahuas!
