Veterinary Small Animal Hospital (VSAH)

My 6 year old cocker spaniel blew a disk out in his back and was unable to use his back legs. The staff were incredible; very competent, caring, and responsive. They got him in for imaging and surgery promptly, giving him the best odds of recovery. I cannot recommend this practice highly enough. Completely amazing.

We traveled all the way from New York to Texas A&M because of their expertise in skull base surgery and were hopeful that our dog would be a candidate for the procedure. The doctors and staff were incredibly kind, and informative throughout the consultation, and we appreciated the time they spent discussing our dog’s condition. That said, it was disappointing to learn that surgery was not an option after making such a long trip. While we understand that not every patient is a surgical candidate, it felt like much of this determination may have been possible through a virtual consultation and review of the imaging beforehand. The travel was expensive, time-consuming, and very stressful for our dog. I would encourage the hospital to consider offering virtual screening consultations for out-of-state and long-distance patients. This could help families better understand whether surgery is a realistic option before committing to significant travel. We are grateful for the expertise and kindness of the team, but we left feeling that the trip may not have been necessary and could have been avoided with a preliminary remote evaluation.

My cat gave me a scare, after hours, no answer from our local vet. Drove to BCS, they took us in immediately. Melo was diagnosed with congestive heart failure. I had to leave him there to get better. I got picture email with updates and phone calls the 3 days he was there. Melo was able to come home, Dr. Eisner and all of the staff here are the best 10/10 recommend.

Lost my best friend Al Pachino (AP) last month 4/2 and I’m absolutely a wreck. So unexpected got him into surgery next day and unfortunately he developed myelomalacia which translates to "death of the spine" , a incurable rapidly progressive death of the spine that was moving from his rear legs towards his lungs. Giving him peace was my only option as it was moving quickly towards his diaphragm and he would be starved of oxygen. I highly blame the hospital caring for him for this outcome as I got him there next day and they refused surgery until the following day because he still had Deep pain sensation and he was quickly disregarded as a priority. I was not allowed to see my dog till 3 days after he arrived. They allowed him to progress and shortly before they operated he had lost all DPS in Less than 24 hours after he arrived. Avoid Texas A&M small animal hospital at all costs! I have an active dispute against them for killing my best friend. Texas A&M University killed my dog and has now left me with a 10,000 dollar bill and they refuse to answer questions.

I cannot express enough gratitude for the care my 13-year-old dog, Dakota, and our family received at Texas A&M Small Animal Teaching Hospital. We came in on a Saturday and received a terminal diagnosis on Monday. While the outcome was heartbreaking, the experience was world-class. From the moment we walked in, every single person, from the front desk and billing to the vet techs and doctors, handled us with the utmost compassion and care. We truly felt like Dakota was in the best possible hands. A special thank you to Dr. Emily Napoles (Neurology). She kept us informed through every step of the process and provided updates exactly as requested. Her communication and empathy made a devastating situation much easier to navigate. If you are looking for a team that will treat your pet like their own family member, I highly recommend Texas A&M. Thank you for taking such wonderful care of our girl in her final days.

I wish I could remember all the names of everyone who took care of my dog this weekend during an emergency pyometra surgery. I know there was Dr Pankowski Dr Yoder and Dr Taylor and so many others who contributed to Mila’s care. I was updated several times a day with patience, concern and compassion on how my my fur baby was doing. I had no doubt in my mind that she was getting the best care possible with this team. Although this procedure was way over my personal budget, it was worth every penny for the tender care she received. They did their best to keep close to the estimate but there were some complications. I’m so glad I brought her there and I’m so glad to have my dog home recovering well.

I love this place. It's because of them that my little guy lived an additional 5 years with his heart condition. We live in Houston and they worked with our vet beautifully so we could do some services near home. They treated my pup and me like gold, all the way until the day he passed. Their cardiology department (and I'm sure every other department) is top notch and I'll always be grateful to them and will take all my other dogs to them if they need any kind of specialist.
