they took good care of my ozzy baby.. they were caring, patient, and kind when we needed to put him down unexpectedly today. if i ever get another pet i will bring them here.
Is there a negative rating? Your pet is just another number with a dollar sign here. Several of my pets were VCA Clinton Township patients for a number of years, but it's been a while since I felt the care was good. They went downhill fast especially since moving to the new location (you're paying for the renovation and rent). Long wait times with no update, vet techs afraid to examine your pet, 30 second doctor consult, will not call in an Rx, then charge you $900 to cut a nail with sedation. Was that even necessary? A corporate culture and your pet is a transaction. You can find the same services, far more caring staff at 30-40% less elsewhere. I did.
We love Dr.Kim. She has been so patient with us taking care of both of our cats. My 16 year old cat has been having a few issues. Dr.kim was never pushy with any tests, she told us what they could offer, what she recommended (which wasn’t even the full list of options) and what they entailed. When it came back that Peanut had some concerns she called and explained all of them in terms I could understand and let us know that she is not in pain in her opinion and she still has time left here. My other cat we found a lump on. Dr.Kim offered us to watch it, do a biopsy, or remove. We did the biopsy and it came back benign where we didn’t have to remove. I am thankful for being given all the options up front instead of the most expensive option only. I am thankful Dr.Kim took us after our last vet just disappeared and stopped answering their phones. Their prices seem fair to me for the services and I have never encountered or heard a rude staff member.
I was recommended to VCA after a disappointing experience at another vet. VCA took a new dog mom and made me feel comfortable and not that I was failing. Everytime my dog and I are there, they treat her like she's one of their own and my pitbull loves going there. They are also accommodating, they know my dog is reactive and they let us check in and bring her straight into a room. VCA Clinton Township is the only vet I'll be going to.
Have been coming here since I first got my cat almost 4 years ago. I have absolutely loved the staff and absolutely loved Dr.Sidor for taking the time to always explain everything and make sure my questions were answered when diagnosing my cat with asthma. Recently, my cat needed a tooth extracted which had the potential to cost up to $3,000 (including the preliminary blood work & initial visit). The low end of the extraction itself was going to cost $2,100. The surgery scheduler only works on scheduling once a week (which is extremely inconvenient for a working person) and had to play phone tag to get an appointment situated. When talking to Allie, the scheduler, I expressed concern about the cost, asked if there was any way to reduce the cost, and asked many questions about pricing, but she only had very surface level answers and did not justify the cost for me. I went to get another opinion at a different vet clinic where they quoted me less than a quarter of the price from VCA (high end of $650, low end of $415). After seeing the itemized pricing at this other vet, I noticed VCA charges much more for many services ($595 for a dental cleaning versus $150 at the other vet). I'm not sure what they base their pricing on, but if you are feeling like owning a pet and getting care is extremely expensive, I urge you to look elsewhere because affordable & reliable care is out there.
We had never taken our 14 year old dog, Zelda, to a VCA vet office. When we called the Clinton Twp. office Monday morning needing to bring her in to put her to sleep - they kindly offered us several appointment time options for the same day. Upon arrival, staff members transported her inside (she had lost the ability to walk) and escorted us to a comfort room equipped with a couch, dog bed and floor cushions for family members. They throughly explained everything and gave us aftercare options (cremation, etc). Dr. Brown also came in to meet us and Zelda and check her over. Every staff member was adamant that we had as much time as we needed with our girl before and after the procedure. For what the situation was - it could not have gone better. Myself, my husband, and our two boys are so grateful for the kindness and compassion shown by this staff. I would also like to note that the cremation service that VCA uses, Trusted Journey Pet Memorial Services, is also wonderful to work with. They hand delivered Zeldas ashes to us within 4 days of her passing. The beautiful carved wooden box we picked out for her cremains was even better than we hoped for and included a plaque with her name on it that we could attach to the box if we chose to as well as a certificate of cremation. Thank you for returning our girl home to us. 🤍 It was lovely to see a vet office treat a pet and their family with this level of care. We will be bringing our 1.5 year old Labradoodle to VCA for future vet visits. 🐶🤍
This has happened over the past 3 days. Our GSD Hawthorne is highly fearful of people, we were brand new patients as we had never had medical issues before. Not only did we get a coupon for a first visit for free (usual exam fee is $85, one of the cheapest in the area as we frantically called around), but we ran in to warn their lobby he is people reactive. We were put in a safe room immediately so nobody got worked up or hurt, and our vet tech was incredibly knowledgeable and familiar with reactive dogs. I was having a full on panic attack as Ive never dealt with severe hot spots before but all the staff was very kind and reassuring. We did have to muzzle him but our vet and tech were so kind and patient with him despite there being an emergency patient in the building they were dealing with as well. Despite some of the reviews here, they were incredibly understanding of our financial struggles and how thin we were spread. We will absolutely be doing their in house preventative care plan. Despite other claims, it is only 53$/mo, NOT 100$. It covers a blood test, all shots for the year, and any exam fees we may need over the year. Our boy got a months worth of meds and a cone for around 100$ this visit, and they did not upsell us on things we couldnt afford. Anyone saying otherwise did not read the care provided under their contract or is straight up lying. I JUST called today to doublecheck what we could do for his care as he reacted very badly to the cone and theyve been nothing but kind and responsive. Hawthorne will be going to this vet for life unless we have to move out of state for some reason.
