I never write a review but I was so blown away with the care we received that I had too. We took our dog in after she was having cluster seizures. I forgot our nurses but she was absolutely amazing and I’m sure everyone else is too. The doctors did so well with explaining their recommendations and helped us come up with a plan that we would be able to afford until we went in to see our primary doctor. I really hope I never have to go in again but incase of an emergency there’s no doubt this is the place.

VEG ER for Pets is an excellent place to visit if your pet has suffered san emergency or if your vet is closed. They are open 24 hours a day and the building is conveniently located in the West Loop with free parking included. We walked in with our 15 year old Poodle convinced she had suffered a stroke or seizure. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable and took us in right away. They determined the health issue rather quickly and assured us that the health problem was not life threatening, she had a couple of infections that caused her dizziness and ability to walk. My dog had also had a big cyst on her back and the doctor offered to drain it for her. An IV needle was later inserted under her skin which provided hydration when she got home. Were were given medication for our pet as well as a lot of helpful information regarding her condition. I would 100% recommend VEG for an emergency visit for your pet!

Raisins are toxic to dogs and their consumption of a bag of my Mom’s homemade oatmeal cookies occasioned our Saturday night visit. I can’t say enough good things about the care they received. Dr. S. Cowan was extremely thorough and compassionate, as were all the highly skilled techs and support staff who made a very stressful experience easier. Even though the practice was very busy we were placed in a private room and immediately triaged. The dogs received excellent care and are all healthy. I hope you don’t need to go here but if you do I highly recommend

Absolutely stellar care. Incredible vet techs, very knowledgeable doctors! They were really great about letting my wife and I stay with our inpatient pup while he got rehydrated and we were able to come and go easily without any hassle while he was being taken care of overnight. They answered all of our questions, greeted us everytime we came in, were transparent and up-front about costs, and overall provided top-notch care. We came in Friday mid-morning and were seen immediately, no wait. Clean, efficient, great bedside manner all around. Can't say enough good.

Dr. Kess made our first visit unforgettable for all the right reasons. I rescued a very nervous, reactive pitbull and was honestly terrified to bring her in, but from the moment we walked through the door the staff welcomed us with genuine smiles and put me at ease. Dr. Kess was the star. calm, deeply knowledgeable, and incredibly patient with my dog. She took the time to explain everything clearly, answered all my worried questions, and treated my dog with real compassion during an emergency. The staff (I’m sorry I forgot names) were wonderful too they helped carry my dog on a cart when we arrived and assisted me again when we left. Because it was Christmas, having their care felt like the best gift I could’ve gotten. When I explained my financial struggles they listened, showed compassion, and worked with me to provide a discount so my dog could get the care she needed. I’m so grateful to have found a veterinarian and team who truly put animals and people first. Thank you, Dr. Kess and team you gave us peace of mind when we needed it most. Highly recommend.

The VEG team was outstanding!! From the beginning, when my cat and I were ushered into a private room because he was so scared, to the end, I feel like we recived the royal treatment. Everyone was kind and generous, we were given snacks (human and feline) during our long stay, a nurse or attendant was always a button call away, the facility was clean and new, and the team worked hard with us to work out the payment situation. Nevertheless, I have a few critiques: 1) The open treatment space is TOO LOUD for sensitive animals. Even in a private room, my cat was rattled by the constant loud noises and chatter coming from the main area. 2) We should have been given outpatient options UP FRONT instead of being pushed toward the $5000 "gold standard" inpatient care until we simply couldn't come up with the funds for two overnight stays (which turned out to be unnecessary, anyway). 3) Sometimes we had to wait long periods for the doctor to weigh in on medical questions. Other team members could have answered those questions earlier instead of keeping us waiting in fear. 4) The costs were really high. Like really, really, REALLY high. $5000 for two overnight stays? That's more than some human hospitals.
