Dr DeRespino is incredible! We have brought elderly dogs to her for urgent help in years past and our young accident prone dogs to her in recent months. She also helped me with a very sick stray cat that found her way to us this spring. Dr DeRespino is so good at explaining things in a compassionate, clear way that always puts us at ease and helps us to make decisions during very stressful and unplanned visits. (Plus -she is FUNNY- and a little levity can sure go a long way in moments like those..! ) Our dogs AND our cats all love her and the Paw Med team. So thankful to have found them!!
Came there for my dog having severe pain in his leg with possible fever. The vet tech (Cody? I think) was very kind and personable. He was very sweet to my dog. The vet there was very kind as well and explained everything very thoroughly. They presented me with my options and went over pricing before treatment. It was such a nice experience during a very stressful time for my dog and I. I will definitely come back to this Carnes location if any of my dogs ever need emergent care!
We cannot thank Dr Watts & her team enough for the care & compassion they showed us when we brought our aging kitty to PawMed West Ashley - no-one wants to have to take their fur baby to a vet on a Sunday, especially one they’ve never been to before, but we were really well looked after. We also appreciated the fact that they were open & we could reserve a spot online, so didn’t have to wait in a waiting room. From the moment we walked in the door, everyone took great care of us - sadly, as we’d suspected when we took her there, it was her time to cross the rainbow bridge, but Dr Watts took great care to explain everything to us & give us as much time with her as we wanted both before and after.
Vet refused to see pet because it was 45 mins prior to closing. We were concerned our pet was dying and the vet chose to send us to cvrc instead of even looking at the animal. A cursory examination could have provided important information for future steps (ie. Pet is stable and can be seen the next day by primary care vet / pet needs to be referred to cvrc / pet was, in fact, dying -determined by simply checking vitals- and humane euthanasia was the best option). Flat out refusal to examine pet with 45 mins remaining in posted operational hours was clearly a choice based on human convience versus posted mission statement.
Great customer service! My 14 pound ball of fluff was cut on her bottom after visiting a groomer and my vet could not fit her in over the weekend. My sweet dog couldn't sit down and was whining nonstop. PawMed took her in on a Friday evening and gave her some medicine to stop the pain. Great customer service, kind staff and the Doctor was very personable. Highly recommend!
This was my first emergency with my kitty, Pumpkin. I was in shambles over the phone- and not to mention while in the room while the technicians and doctors checked him out. HUGE shoutout for the woman on front desk who took my call. We were taken back as soon as we had gotten into the building and they were so gentle with him. Me and Pumpkin both adored our technician and doctor. Turns out he had a UTI , but it was still a frightening experience. Mr. Pumpkin was given some fluids and antibiotics but is now relaxing at home making happy biscuits once more!
Staff was friendly but did not show me invoice for eye exam for my cat until after I arrived home and was emailed. Was charged $23 for a cone I said she didn't need because she wasn't scratching her face abnormally and two supplies of painkillers (I am not saying she was not in pain or doesn't need them, although she hasn't shown any symptoms of active pain and discomfort other than when the area around her eye is touched. But that I did not even get to see what they were prescribing before I was charged.) Overall, I felt more taken advantage of because I care about my cat and felt that they preyed on that. Will not be coming back for their recommendation of ANOTHER eye exam if she is doing better. Obviously if the issue persists or gets worse then I will bring her in for another eye exam, but not here.
