My regular veterinarian was not in to help me one evening my dog threw up blood. The office was so nice and Dr. Appel. They were so welcoming and took care of my dog and he’s doing much better. Both the doctor and staff were very patient, especially that my husband and I were so nervous about our dog, but they were very caring and answered all our questions and made sure that our dog had the best care and medicine. Thank you for taking us such short notice and taking care of our minature poodle Winston!

Dr. Appel and his staff are very helpful and knowledgeable, he is thorough. He takes the time to explain things and follows up with calls. He is caring for my 15 year old cat, and I am satisfied with the care received. I hate the music in the waiting area, it makes me feel sleepy and bored while I'm waiting. He should at least play some smooth jazz. And, get some regular chairs in the waiting area, those benches are shallow and uncomfortable. His prices are fair, the atmosphere okay, not too warm and fuzzy, but he's good, he will talk with you and answer questions. The staff is helpful, too. His work is good and I positively recommend this vet practice.

I brought my Angora rabbit to this office for his first time at a veterinarian (hes 9 btw) They were so quick and efficient with Charles. All 3 of the doctors/nurses involved were gentle an caring with my guy and we both had a great experience. They explained everything before they did it and also gave me the options to proceed or not with no shame. Would absolutely recommend anyone with an "exotic" pet to seek them out for your baby. The wait and bill were reasonable to me as well.

This IS THE BEST VET IN NEW YORK CITY. I've never met a vet more committed to animals in my life. Dr. Appel performed an emergency surgery on my little Persian kitten. Kenny ate something that was blocking his digestive system. He was throwing up and wouldn't eat for days and most likely would have died without the surgery. After speaking with two other animal hospitals in Manhattan, I found this hospital. Unlike other surgeons, Dr. Appel took my fur baby in at around 11pm on a Friday! Most vets aren't even available that late at night without extra fees, but this Dr. was open and quoted me a much more affordable price. He was so attentive and helpful. He's been in business since the 70's and he's still got it! (I saw his diplomas from both Cornell and NYU on the wall in the office). I'm so happy to report my kitty is doing great (2 weeks after his procedure). I'd like to thank Dr. Appel and his staff for an amazing experience. Thank you for saving Kenny's life! I took my cat Pickle here in an emergency. The staff at Petco didn’t help at all and even told me to leave because it was almost 5 PM. I couldn’t risk Pickle’s life, so I took him to this vet nearby, even though I had never been here before. Despite what you might read in reviews about the doctor being aggressive or blunt, don’t let that stop you. The moment we arrived, Pickle was taken into surgery. He was in critical condition — his bladder was full of blood, and his heart was almost 2.5 times larger than normal. Thanks to this doctor, Pickle survived. Yes, the doctor can be a bit strict, but he is incredibly skilled and professional. Don’t be misled by online reviews. Your pet’s health comes first, not your ego or comfort. I am deeply grateful to this doctor, and I will never go anywhere else. You can trust them completely with your pets.

Best doctor ever. We were in different places and situations and that doctor is absolutely professional. Any price is worth to come exactly to that clinic

My daughter brought her dog in months ago because his eye was red. Doctor said he had a tilted lens, gave him drops, and said that "you could go to an ophthalmologist". But otherwise if anything changes to bring him in. He didn't make it seem pertinent, he didn't say the ophthalmologist could prevent anything. Basically said if we notice any changes, bring him in right away and Dr.Roy could save him from going blind if it gets worse. During that appointment my daughter was treated horribly by the doctor and so she wrote an honest review about what transpired. Fast forward to today when we noticed our dog's eye change to grey and he was squinting. We rushed him in, and the DOC REFUSED TO SEE HIM because of the bad review my daughter made. He said "you wanted to tell the world about me, that's unforgivable!" After my daughter cried and begged to help her dog, he said he would see him for $300 upfront. That's not what he charges for an emergency visit. My daughter didn't trust him at that point and left. He does not care about animals, to let a review cause him to deny helping an animal in need. Brought our dog to an ophthalmologist and he had to have his eye removed because it was causing him pain and he lost the vision in that eye. It could have been prevented if Dr. Roy gave a sense of urgency to see a specialist but made it like it was an option that wasn't needed. We would have taken him straight to the eye doctor if we knew this could have been prevented. My dog lost his eye because of this Vet. Then when the dog is in need because of his poor advice, he refuses to see him out of spite. This is not just a terrible vet but an awful person who doesn't care about animals.
