5th Avenue Cat Clinic

📍 Cat veterinarians in Brooklyn

2.0

Address offers a mixed experience for pet owners, with notable inconsistencies in service quality. While some visitors praise the clinic for its professional and calm approach, others report dissatisfaction with the treatment received. The clinic's hours can be unpredictable, leading to inconvenience for those seeking after-work services.

Despite some concerns about communication and respect, Address has also been commended for its effective care, particularly in managing complex conditions like hypothyroidism. The clinic's reputation is thus a blend of positive outcomes and areas needing improvement, making it a place with potential but also notable drawbacks.

I took my cat there for a regular physical. I was worried about something serious with him, so when the doctor-in-training came in, I asked her for the real doctor. The vet came in and proceeded to talk down to me for the next 5 minutes for not allowing her to diagnose my cat's problem. I have never felt so disrespected at a veterinarian's office as I did here. It was a horrible experience and I would never go back. These people don't care about your cat, only their own egos!

Mixed... the first time we brought a cat here, we had an excellent vet who didn't seem to be an "alarmist." She recommended a wait-and-see approach, which just makes the most sense in 99 percent of the cases. The second time we visited here with a different cat a different vet advised a bunch of really expensive tests. We did the first round to rule out serious stuff... but then she recommended more expensive tests that seemed to be over-the-top and would require more anasthesia when a simple antibiotic would have probably resolved the issue the test she recommended would reveal. The other issue is that they are NOT open until 8 as they say. I tried twice to pick up medicine after work -- the first time at 7 and the second time at 6:45, and they were completely closed. When I asked about this, the answer was random -- we are usually open until 8 unless we close early. Um, Okay.

I can't say enough good things about the 5th Avenue Cat Clinic. My male cat is now healthy, happy and hypothyroidism-free due to these vets. I no longer live in New York, but if I did, 5th Avenue Cat Clinic would be my vets for life.

DEFINITELY THE WORST VET IN BROOKLYN I WENT IN BECAUSE MY CAT WAS PANTING. WHEN I CALLED I WAS TOLD IF SHE NEEDED OXYGEN OR IF IT WAS SERIOUS THEY WOULD SEND ME TO THE ANIMAL HOSPITAL. SO WHEN I WENT IN I WAS ASKED HOW LONG SHE WAS PANTING AND I EXPLAINED SHE WAS PANTING FOR ABOUT A WEEK BUT WHEN I RESEARCHED THE PROBLEM ONLINE IT TOLD ME TO SEE IF HER GUMS WERE A DIFFERENT COLOR, TO CHECK IF SHES STILL ACTIVE, SEE IF SHES EATING, DEFECATING AND URINATING NORMALLY AND IF ALL THAT IS NORMAL THEN MOSTLIKELY ITS HEAT EXHAUSTION. THE DOCTOR LOOKED AT ME WITH A VERY STERN LOOK AND SAID " NEVER LISTEN TO ANYTHING ONLINE, ITS REALLY GOOD THAT YOU BROUGHT HER IN WHEN YOU DID, REALLY GOOD. ITS NEVER GOOD WHEN A CAT PANTS, CONTRARY TO WHAT THE INTERNET SAYS A CAT SHOULD NEVER PANT." NOW WHEN SHE STARTS TO EXAMINE THE CAT THE VERY FIRST THING SHE DOES IS CHECKS HER GUMS. THEN SHE CHECKS HER TEMPERATURE AND SHE BASICALLY RAPED MY CAT. WHEN I WENT TO MY NORMAL VET (WHOM I HIGHLY RECOMMEND, ANIMAL KIND) MY CAT DIDNT MAKE A PEEP WHEN ITS TEMPERATURE WAS BEING TAKEN. WHEN THIS DOCTOR DID IT MY CAT SCREAMED LIKE IT WAS BEING RUN OVER BY A TRUCK. THEN THE DR SAYS IS SHE ACTIVE ? IS SHE EATING, DEFECTING AND URINATING NORMALLY? NOW AFTER SHE JUST TOLD ME THE INTERNET WAS WRONG AND CATS SHOULDNT PANT EVER. SHE ASKED ME EVERYTHING I JUST MENTIONED THE INTERNET SAID THEN SHE TELLS ME SHE HAS 4 CATS AND TWO OF THEM PANT. NEXT SHE CHECKS HER BREATHING AND SHE THINKS SHE SHOULD GET XRAYS AND WOULD GET ME A QUOTE. SHE COMES BACK WITH A QUOTE OF $520 $56 FOR THE VISIT. $66 FOR THE PREANESTHETIC BLOODWORK $101 FOR AN ULTRASOUND CONSULTATION $159 FOR 2 VIEWS/W INTERPT $103 FOR GEN ANESTHESIA $35 FOR CAPPED CATHETER NOW SHE SAYS THEY'RE CLOSING SO SHE SUGGESTS I COME BACK IN THE MORNING. WHEN I CALLED MY NORMAL VET AND TOLD THEM WHAT WAS GOING ON AND I NEEDED XRAYS I WAS TOLD $150 PLUS THE VISIT CAUSE A CAT WHOS PANTING DOES NOT GET ANESTHESIA OR IT COULD DIE. SO THAT MEANS SHE WANTED TO CHARGE ME FOR A CATHETER AN ANESTHESIA AND BLOODWORK FOR AN ANESTHESIA WHEN THAT WOULD MOST LIKELY KILL MY CAT...
