Small Animal Clinic

It's taken me over a year to come back and write this review. My dog of 11 years was referred here on an emergent basis to remove fluid around his heart. While at LSU, he was diagnosed with an untreatable heart tumor with days to live and of course I was devastated. The staff and doctors were so kind and knowledgeable. I left understanding everything and was able to get things together in preparation for a home euthanasia by our local vet when the time was right. Dr. J. Lee and his student, Morgan Beard, Thank you for your kindness and compassion in such a difficult time.

The entire staff at LSU Animal Clinic is phenomenal. They truly care about the well-being of your pet. Our Frenchie went in as an emergency patient with neurological symptoms. They immediately took action and saved our fur baby, Louis. I can't praise them enough. They have been a Godsend.

We started our journey with LSU small animal clinic a full 6 months ago. Our little chi was in a lot of pain and was not able to lay down. My wife and I had a lot of sleepless nights going to 3 animal hospitals in our area and we're told that it was her arthritis, or that it was a pinched nerve. We knew that this was not what was bothering her. Something told us to take her to LSU. Upon arriving there in the evening time after only looking at her for a couple mins they immediately knew that she would need slot surgery. Dr. Embersics and the neurology department were amazing and available at anytime to answer my questions, or even see Layla in a emergency situation if we brought her to the hospital. The whole staff gave us a lot of relief and taking her there was the best decision because 6 months later she has done a 360 and it is like she never had any problems. I recommend for any major surgery needed they will become a part of your family! Thank you guys for 1,000 time for saving Layla's life!

Do not bring any animal here. Brought in an injured crow that had been hit by a car. They promised to call us if they planned to put it down, and they also said they would give it two days to see if steroids would help. They put it down without notifying me and killed it the same day I brought it in. I'm absolutely disgusted with the blatant disregard for life this place has. Don't go here if you want the animal in your care to be treated humanely and with respect. Sick.

1 Star for being open at 11PM. HOWEVER they separated us from our dog for 5 hours. I believe it was apparent within the first 45 minutes that the issue was resolved, but they recommended $500 in diagnostics, scans, meds and blood tests. In the end, he just needed to be expressed (which they did in the first 45 minutes). Had they told us ALL his symptoms had resolved, we would not have agreed to the extra tests, and the 4 additional hours of traumatic separation for him and us. I also followed up by phone to ask the vet a question and they took a message and never followed up. It felt like kids running the school, a lot of guessing, waiting and billing. If you are in an emergency situation go here - otherwise, get a recommendation from a local.

Great people and caring honest Drs. I like the fact that they aren't trying to bamboozle you into expensive tests and are straight to the fact.. Thank you to the students and the excellent Drs. It is definitely worth the drive for expert diagnosis and treatments and Alternative methods .. Daisy my Yorkie thanks you. My Daisy is a year now . Thank you for saving her life .

They took fantastic care of Layla my Mainecoon who recently just passed. LSU gave us many options for treatments. I choose the radiation and the team kept me in the loop the whole time and completed her course . After a lengthy battle she got tired and said goodbye. I’m thankful we were able to get that extra time with her. In the ends they let us hold her as she took her last breath and were very gentle with the situation. It was not the cheapest place by far but they can and will give a higher level of care. All of the money was worth 9 extra months with our girl.
