Gaines Shoal Animal Clinic

Being new to the area I needed to find a veterinarian for my two furbabies. I was able to make a same day appointment and was extremely impressed with the way everyone treated me from check in to the vet’s assistant to the vet herself. All were pleasant and friendly assisting with my concerns and spent the time required to really see what was happening with my dog. They suggested different courses for treatment and made sure I would know exactly how much each treatment would cost. I was very happy and have already sent the records for my other dog so we can keep up with his immunizations.

Some of the absolute sweetest people I have ever met! They are all so very kind and so gentle! You can tell they all really love animals and have the animals best intentions on mind! So very thankful for their help today!!

I have been using this veterinarian clinic for about 6 years now. The staff members are always so helpful and friendly. I have been impressed with the knowledge and experience of the doctors here as well. Today I took our newly adopted kitten for his first wellness check. Everything went smoothly. I will definitely continue to take all my pets to Gaines Shoal Animal Clinic. 12/2025 EDIT: One of my senior cats passed away recently. When the clinic found out about his passing, they mailed me a sympathy card that all of the staff had signed. Also, the doctor, who had been taking care of my cat, called to offer her condolences. It meant so much to me in my time of grief to know how much they cared. I just can’t say enough about this place. They are top notch.

It was a great experience over all. I had just gotten my puppy and when I went in they explained everything to me very carefully so that I might understand. They helped calm my nerves with his kennel cough and the vet was extremely nice. The couple of times I have called in with a few questions, they answered them very nicely. I also appreciated the follow up call from them the next day, it eased my mind and showed that they really do care.

The staff was friendly, check-in easy. I brought my pup in for a suspected UTI. This was confirmed through testing. The Veterinarian was very nice. I liked her. The two areas I wasn’t thrilled with was a $300.00 bill at the end of the visit when I mentioned my surprise I added they should have given me an estimate, her reaction led me to believe they usually do give an estimate. I take part of the blame for not asking in advance. The next area was just cleanliness. The place itself is very nice. There was hair everywhere- even the table they put my dog on. I had a morning appointment so who knows maybe they just didn’t clean up from the day before? I’ve had pets for over 30 years and been to plenty of vets offices. They always are cleaning because if animals are there - they might be sick.

I cannot recommend Dr. Fulford and her team enough! From start to finish, they provided exceptional care for my dog, Allie. Dr. Fulford diagnosed an uncommon condition with expertise and compassion, taking the time to explain everything thoroughly and answer all my questions. Her team was incredibly kind and understanding, even when I called multiple times a day for a week straight. The receptionists, especially Hannah, went above and beyond to make Allie and me feel welcomed and cared for the moment we walked through the door. Despite their busy schedule, they managed to accommodate us at the last minute and demonstrated excellent communication and dedication to their patients. Allie received outstanding care, and I’m so grateful to have found such a knowledgeable and compassionate veterinary team in Athens. If you're looking for a clinic that truly cares, this is the place to go! Highly recommend!

I have had nothing but an amazing experience! Mila (vet tech) and Dr. Rankin have been thoughtful, patient, and compassionate. I feel informed to make the best decision for my pet and I know they have his best interest in mind. We have had to visit every month for the last 3 months due to a chronic ear issue and each time, Mila and Dr. Rankin go out of their way to make it the most pleasant experience it can be for my baby, who is very sacred!
